I am wondering how other people slipped into Psychosis. Meaning, did you just suddenly start hearing voices? Did it just come out of nowhere? Was it something that triggered it?
For me, my mom had put my dad and I through a lot of grief my whole life. But one day back in January I walked into my dad's room to grab something for him and I was just talking quietly to myself. I was never close to my mom at all and I almost hated her but it was causing me grief that was not needed, so I said to myself "If this is the way it's supposed to be, I'll forgive my mom."
Then I heard "God" speak to me. I heard a voice say "now you understand my daughter." and I saw the room fill with light. I think at this point I had a mild seizure because my dad found me convulsing on the floor. I knew what was going on though and still felt the presence of "God." It was the most overwhelming experience I ever had but also the most amazing. It didn't cross my mind that it was medication induced during that moment. I thought I was having some sort of spiritual awakening.
I was actually normal for a while after that. I said "God if this is true, please come back later and speak to me in a way I can understand because I feel like I'm about to burst!" Well the voice did come back to me later, when I went to my boyfriends apartment. I thought I had a mild seizure and that, that was the end of it, but the voice returned that night and we had a whole conversation about how I must have faith and all this other junk.
I just thought it was really weird how it started. It's why I believed so much that it was real. Sometimes I still wonder if I really did have a spiritual experience and if "God" really did speak to me at the beginning of it, during my seizure. I know I was not controlling it myself. I know most people will think it was all a hallucination, but it felt so REAL that it is hard for me to let go of that initial experience of "God."
So how did your psychosis actually begin? Did you hear a voice speak to you too?

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Oh, finally I thought I could fly.
Buttttaaaa...
I do suffer another set of dysfunctions that are indisputably ... Dysfunctional. I cannot tell you when it began. Somewhere in childhood. I did not have much sanity to learn from as a kid. I am still not fully housebroken.
I still wonder why it was "God" and "Jesus" that spoke to me even though I'm not religious. That's why I sometimes wonder if it was real. I would think I would have seen an alien before Jesus lol. Of course, I did think aliens were trying to contact me and that I had alien DNA later during my psychosis lol. But the God voice was different than all the other voices I heard. It's very hard to describe.
It's odd but I mostly experienced Positive voices. Only a few negative ones such as "Don't sell me out you little...!" and things like "You have five seconds to prevent Nuclear war. 5...4...3...2..."
But mostly the voices were very encouraging. I know spiritual delusions are apparently common in Bipolar people, but part of me would like to believe that maybe, just maybe we're a little bit more spiritually sensitive than the average person. Sigh.
Then, I would get "ideas of reference" (thinking things are about you) and loosening of the associations (your thoughts get really derailed easily) and then I just flat out thought inanimate objects were sending me coded messages.
I never really hallucinated; I think it was all really just weird cognitive distortion and reality-impairment.
