My bf moved in a little over a year ago with the agreement that he wouldn't drink at all. For a couple of months, that happened. Over the past couple of months it's been becoming more and more and I have talked to him about it. He always promises that he'll cut back, but then he goes back to more and more. I know it's an addiction and it's hard for him to kick it. I had to have another talk with him b/c he was drinking more and more. He won't get help. He doesn't see this as a problem, so I compromised and said he could drink a 12 pack a week. Maximum 6 per day. It's only been 2 days without a drink for him, and he came into our bedroom last night SCREAMING at me. I was asleep and sat up right around the time that he came in. So he started literally SCREAMING at me at 1:40am.
It had all to do with a couple of messes and the fact that I sleep a lot. I have never been talked to like that. Ever. And I'm not about to start being talked to like that. I have to protect my kids from him b/c he told me last night that he planned on yelling a whole lot more today.
I cleaned up what he was yelling about. It took like 5 minutes or less, but the kids were supposed to have done it. How do I talk to him about this? I am not the type of person to yell, but I REFUSE to be treated this way.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

i echo exactly what spacekat said. hugs
I wouldn't enable him by making deals that he can drink so many drinks but not more... This isn't going to work with someone who's alcohol dependent or a functioning alcoholic... Maybe for a short time but it's all going to come crashing down... I would consider cutting your losses and cutting out for you and your kids sake
There is a Friends and Families of Addicts board on here that may be helpful to you
Big hug and a blessing....xo

As long as he doesn't think he has a problem (and what alcoholic does)...its going to be very difficult for you, The drinking and his mood swings are going to get worse.
I don't have an answer for you but since you have children I would be very careful about what he's up to.
I'm much happier and safe now. I'm not telling you to leave him, but it may be the only way for you and your kids to have peace. Telling him not to drink is not going to work. He has to want to quit and from what you said, he's not ready for that. You do not deserve that abuse and you need to protect your kids.
