Geodon did the trick for me. Made me really sleepy but zapped the mania right away.
Sorry, but I dont have any tips for budgeting money. Still trying to come back from the hole of debt myself.
If you're BiPolar impulsivity, handling money, overspending can be a bid problem. A financial counselor probably won't be a big help as they teach things on a "logical, common sense, your doing this, you know you shouldn't, so lets work out a plan and stop" kind of way.
A BiPolar brain does not learn that way, nor does it emote, handle impulses, or have logic. There are coping skills that can help you get the spending under control, most people consider them pretty drastic, but most people don't go out and drop a $1000 in a week on crap they didn't need or probably couldn't even use.
Problem solving runs along the same lines. BiPolar Disorder is a chemical imbalance in the brain and it affects the part of the brain that control impulses, function logically, regulate mood, problem solve...
The first thing you need to do though is get a proper Diagnosis by a Psychiatrist, even if its a 2nd Diagnosis, and get under a proper BiPolar treatment plan, if you are indeed BiPolar. Because you can learn all the coping skills in the world, but if your not taking the proper medications to get your brain equalized chemically, just learning coping skills won't be enough.
Take care.
