Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Hi, everyone! I joined DS today and this group as well.
I guess I'll share some of my history...
I was diagnosed with major depression four years ago. My newest psychiatrist (I've been seeing her for a year now) has diagnosed me with bipolar ll disorder about six months ago.
I experience a lot of hypomanic and depressive episodes.
When I am in my "up" mood, I go on a lot of shopping sprees, like going to Target EVERY DAY. Is that normal? I spend money I don't have via credit card. Honestly, I buy stuff that I don't need. I can't help it though. In the moment, I think nothing of it, but when looking back, I realize the consequences that will happen for spending all of this money. Yet, I continue to do this. Why? I don't know. Also, I get extremely irritable. Everything makes me upset. I usually sleep about three to four hours and feel well-rested.
In my "down" mood, I get so, so depressed. I was diagnosed with major depression, so it's like being back in that state. I think it's pretty obvious how I'd be feeling... Hopeless, worthless, pathetic, etc. I am really hard on myself, especially about my weight gain. I used to weigh 110 lbs about two years ago, and now I'm nearly 200 lbs. I tend to sleep all day if I don't have school. I lose all of my energy - I can't get dressed in the morning, I go numerous days without showering, it is hard to brush my teeth, etc.
So, that's me. I'd like to meet people here and make possible friends.
I hope you all have a nice day!
