Getting Divorced

Man, it sucks to say it out loud and it also sucks to type and read it! Indeed, my wife and I will be going through a divorce. We have a 10 year old daughter and a 2 year old son. I am scared about what it will do to them. I want to remain an big part of their lives and keep things as close to the way they were as possible.

I am very scared but I know, personally, that this is for the best. Advice and words of encouragement are definitely appreciated.

sorry to hear this my friend. sucks that you are starting the year on such a bad note. as long as you and the wife can remain friendly it should be easier on the kids. also, make sure the kids know that it was nothing they did that caused this

My brother was able to maintain a civil relationship with his ex. He was actually pretty amazing and he put up with a lot of crap from her in order to maintain civility and thus be able to see more of his kid.

I thought he was crazy at the time for taking so much crap from her, but it has paid off in the long run.

I agree with the other posters here. Try to maintain civility for your kids, no matter how hard it is. When my parents divorced it was really rough until they learned to get along. Sometimes that's not possible though, so make sure your kids have all of the support that they need.

Sorry to hear it, what a bummer. Make a pact never to speak ill of each other to the kids. Remember that those kids have 50% of each parent's DNA.

Keep ypur kids on your end. let her be the visiting parent. if not then be a diary every day that they canread when theyare 18 even if you see them alot/

Well I talked with my daughter (she is now talking with her mother) about the divorce and it did not go well. She is really taking it very hard. I know that it's necessary to go through all the emotions. But it's just hard right now.

Thanks for all the advice. It's good advice and I have planned on doing just that. We are going to remain very civil and we don't hate one another. The kids will be well supported and I will see them a lot. It's going to be fine. I just hate this part. It's the hardest part I know.

Aw, divorce. what a wonderful thing it was for me.
I just wished I had left mine a lot sooner.
The best thing that you & children Mother can do is remain friends. ok friendly.
Legally you have the same rights as a woman.

Do make it clear that u love your wife but not as a married couple does but no mater what u will always love them and that they will always be a part of your life.
Don't let her have everything. It's 1/2 yours too.
This is begining of a healthy happy life.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I guess, as others have already said, it's important to remain "civil" towards each other, and that this will probably go a long way to you being able to see your kids on a regular enough basis.
