I don't know what to do about this. I cam be having a perfect day, then someone says something not even worth getting upset over and I end up crying.... I don't understand :(

I had it explained to me something like this. Our brains remember in the subconscious all sorts of events where we were in danger of being hurt or were hurt physically or mentally. When we are triggered by something in the environment that reminds us of this memory of pain we are trying to keep buried, the pain can overwhelm us. Tread carefully and be gentle with yourself, after all you're no longer the younger part that got hurt and the situations as you say are not worth getting upset over in reality. Keep a journal of these events maybe. Talk to your t and try to spot the patterns perhaps. tc.

You have to remember bipolar is a mood disorder which brings with it fluctuations in how we feel. How were ypi feeling just directly before the comment was made?

Yeah we can be really sensitive. I used to be like that a lot more. Big hugs. I hope you feel better soon.

In my therapy network we call this, "A Trigger." It can cause us ballistic or to collapse into depression as quick as a finger on a gun's trigger. When I, personally, just a patient, experience a trigger event, I pause to balance the shock to my system before I take it any further. I treat it like a case of emotional influenza: rest, careful diet and lots of fluids. Once I have regained my physical and emotional balance, I typically have a pretty good idea what the underlying problem is and some clues what to do about it.

HUGS - they're right, you know. And it can be embarrassing and/or a pain in the Butt, but there it is - we're, like, Super-sensitive. I don't know you - arfie has good insights in his comment yet I know it takes a While to become practiced at awareness and control. Do you have a good, understanding therapist to work with?

Sensitive is my name, no kidding. I'm sorry you're hurting like this. I have gotten better over the years but I still deal with triggering moments quite often. Therapy has helped me look at some difficult things and learn how to put up a sort of armor to not get as terrifyingly overwhelmed. Giant ((((hugs)))) of support...

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
