First night in my car

I slept in my car for the first time last night. I found a spot in a covered parking lot at the mall. No one bothered me. I think it will be my spot from now on. It was suffocatingly hot in the car tho. It's 110 outside and it stays over 100 all night long. It's rough but it's better than a shelter. I am at the library now and will continue to hang out here and keep in touch.

Thank you jimlucky1. I have been to the Shade Tree and it was a very scary place. I appreciate you taking the time to look it up for me. I have extreme social anxiety and prefer to be alone rather than around people. It is hard in the car but it's better than being in a scary place. Thank you again.

I am sorry to hear this. I understand why you do not want to go to a shelter but here is a link of places like the salvation army. Look it over just in case you change your mind.

I spent my third night in the car last night, parked in a grocery store parking lot. Not sure how long I will be able to get away with it. It's 112 outside and suppose to get hotter by the weekend. It really sucks. It stays well over 100 degrees long after midnight, I sweat so much in the car. It makes it just that much harder to sleep. I have a routine now, I stay at the library most of the day, then park at the mall till the sun goes down, they have covered parking there, then move to the grocery store to try to sleep. All that could change at anytime tho, Never know what will happen. Thanks for everyones care. I appreciate it.

Heretic, you are always on my mind. I do hope things become a bit more bareable for you at some point soon. Have you thought about maybe just getting out of Vegas?

Let's keep looking in that direction. Disability is worth fighting for and I believe you have more than enough proof to get it.

Is there a chance that you could get general assistance given your situation? also help from a food bank?

Sorry for all this Heretic but keep reaching out there has to be help, an answer and something better to happen you so deserve it!

I don't know what meds you are on. If you are on lithium excessive sweating can cause toxicity.

Too bad you don't live in Canada...here they will let almost anybody on disability. A couple suicide attempts doesn't hurt your case for mental health issues...NOT THAT I AM SAYING YOU SHOULD DO THAT THOUGH...but it certainly got my case approved really quickly after the last suicide attempt in October 2010.

Take care...and don't make yourself more sick by staying in an overheated car. Prayers that something happens to solve the situation you are in now...and lots of great big hugs!!
