Now that I'm on medication and stabilized I am feeling like a much different person from when I was not medicated and in a manic phase.
I feel vulnerable, lonely at times and even scared of what the future will hold for me.I wonder if these are all normal feelings because I find it to be a big adjustment for me.My father is very sick and I am living with my parents right now and helping them the best that I can through all that they are going through. My parents are getting old and it's difficult because my sisters never come around due to my dad's alcoholism.
I'm also doing my best to quit using pot and have been slipping a little but am doing well with it.It's all a big adjustment for me and I'm hoping to get some support here on daily strength.

Hey All...I hope that you have a lovely, peaceful beginning of your weekI have a bunch of chores that need doing but may put them off til tomorrow and just hang out with my landlord/roomie todayWhat about you?...Anything special going on?Have a great day and take good care of you!!..Xo

I'm so glad that you've found stability... It does take time to get used to.. Riding the waves is something that people can find exciting... I find taking time to stop and smell the roses a much nicer life'style' though
There are a couple of good groups on here that might help support you through caregiving... One is 'Caring for Aging Parents' and the other is 'Caregivers Support Group
Big hug for you

It feels Very different; it's been a Long time for me since I was completely without meds, and a longer time since the First time I got stable on meds, but I remember. Yes, I do, because it was like I "woke up". And Saw things for the first time.
Not all that I saw was pretty; yes, you're now seeing some of the Responsible, "realistic" side of life (and it's okay not to like it all the time, lol) - the side that makes you a bit lonely, and afraid...
So now you start making Decisions; Choices, that you really weren't able to Make before...you start Living differently, but it's not all flowers and green pastures. It's Life, and the Biggest difference is, you have a Choice of what to do Next with it.
Sounds like you've got a Lot on your plate with your family; that's a lot for Anyone, mental illness or not, so don't be afraid to Ask people what to do - people that Know about alcoholism, and aging parents, and Everything, you know?
I hope you can take one day at a Time in all this; when we have been Crazy (so to speak, and I've Been there), and all of a sudden we get all "stable", we're not often in the best Place when we get there! You know, we find ourselves living with our parents (I've been there), not having buckets of money or job that is Great, etc. I know...it's stuff to Worry about, but don't let it eat you alive.
Because it Will, if you're not careful. And then you'll wish you were manic again and could Forget. But it's a cycle...oh, and one more thing - eventually you'll find Some of your "old manic feelings" again; it Happens, and when it Does, you can be Ready - to decide what to Do with them. Keep them, balance them, or keep going Without them. :)

I hope your dad gets better with his illness. My father was also an alcoholic so I know some of what you are going through. Just try to hang in until you get use to being stable then begin getting your life in order. It's okay to take some time for your self to learn to cope with your illness. Do you have a therapist?
I think those feelings of feeling unsure and maybe even a bit afraid of the future are normal.
Stability {in my opinion} does change us.
It takes time to adjust to the new you.
I find them all helpfull and it's very comforting to know that others have experienced similar things.
It's nice to know that there are others who care.
Thanks again!
I know how tough it can be to stop smoking pot. My first psych wouldn't prescribe me meds till I came up clean and, get this, I actually went to rehab for pot :). Been clean for 9 years but it isn't always easy.
I wish you the very best. You are doing all the right things. Coming here for support is essential for me. Keep going because you are definitely going in the right direction. I will say a prayer for your dad. I'm very sorry he is so ill.
And good for you for taking care of your family. It's a hard job, rememeber to take care of yourself too. The stress can get to you.
Took care of Mom & Dad, didn't take time for myself. Ended up in the Phosp.
