Which causes you more stress a fake tree or a real tree. Christmas has enough stress I think a fake one is better.

No mess, it stands up straight every time, and there is no rush to take it down before June.

What do you all think?

I personally like a fake tree. There's no mess and you always have it stored away for the next year. I don't think I could switch to a real one ever.

I prefer a real live potted tree , I just got a mini one at home depot this morning at 75 percent off , it smells lovely !

Well I would say that just depends on the person? For me last year? No tree, I just had a Santa Claus on my Coffee Table. At the time it was all I could deal with.

I have a fake one and I love it. I keep it up year round to remind me how lucky I am to be alive and have family and friends even though they don't agree with me all the time. I spent Christmas and New Year's on a psych ward twice in the past few years and have a better appreciation for the holidays. The fake one I don't have to deal with the sadness of when it dies.

This is great lots of good ideas, I like leaving it up year round and the fact my K-9's would drink all the water too is a reality I must admit. But 75% off is a good reason too,

When I was little and my family was actually middle class (1970's), I had a fru fru Godmother who used a large, good smelling cedar tree. We would get together and have mulled wine, cider, eggnog and various hors de vours. Her house smelled of cedar and Simaese cats, who padded gently on wooden floors. We made the ornaments.

Exchange that for today for my concrete shack, no more High Church Episcopal..........................

Well I did it, I found a real two foot high tree at Home Depot last night for ... get this ...$5.00. We put the ornaments that would not fit on it, of which there are a lot, on the curtain rod. I put a broom with the handle wrapped in foil in the hall next to my son (the anti-Christ(mas)'s room. One trip to the liqueur store to augment my valium and I am good to go!

I always rescue a tree from the gutter the day after X-mas and put it up in back outside. There's a bird feeder nearby, and the birds love to rest on it when they visit. It's a joy all winter.
Quite embarrassing if a neighbor sees me dragging the tree from the curb though!
