I get all my meds from the VA and they are free. But for various reasons like changing meds and renewed perscriptions or changed doses I have ended up with a lot of extra pills.

I know that these meds (depakote, risperidol etc.) can be expensive and hard to get for a lot of people. Does anyone know of a way I could donate them to a group that would recycle or hand them out to people who need them?

I know if I take them to the pharmacy they will dispose of them but that seems like such a waste. Any one have any ideas?

Is there a homeless shelter there? Sometimes they take stuff like that. I think it's agasinst the rules, but if it can help people, why not!~!??!!

honestly you could call some charities. however I don't believe anyone will take them because of the liability if they are tampered with. I hope though you do find someone they are expensive and many go with out because of that.

with the price of the meds I wonder if i would get charged with being a drug dealer for handing them out for free to people i know could use them.

i mean there are so many people just on this site that talk about not being able to afford their meds and i'm not talking about a few pills i'm talking about 100's

i agree their should be a way to do this, unfortunately its illegal, too bad lots of people could use them.

good point nobody espically since you don't know really who people on the net are. could be a nark waiting for someone to do such a thing and nail em in order to make some dumb point. Then you'd have to think also of the reprocussions to not just yorself but others. Like would you go to prison, would the site get fined and closed down, what would happen if you did get a criminal record, coudl you afford the leagle fees. Seams like a big risk?

Wish there was a way to pass the extra pills to someone else, I also have scrips left too, some enough for 3 months. Where I live passing on scrips is the same as drug dealing and can get you 3 to 5 in jail, and listed as a dealer on the state regestry, that can make it hard to get meds in the future.

Keep them. You never know when your docs will change you back to the drugs.

I threw out a bunch of drugs since I wouldn't be using them.

Well I desperately needed them on new years day.

Wish there was a way to pass them on.

i don't worry aboout needin them again or even if they reperscribe because as a disabled vet i get them for free from the VA

You can send them to needy DSers. Seriously. 2 people I know ran out of their meds and I just happened to have extras. You know where I'm going w/this right? I don't want to incriminate myself.

If they are in the bubble packs that the VA provide I don't see why people make such a stink about it. I suppose they can still be tampered with. Can I see your license and major credit card?? Only KIDDING, I think there are people here on DS that could definately use them - any BP pharmacists here willing to do some work??
