ECT Experiences?

Anyone had any experiences with ECT? (Also known as electro-shock treatment.)

yes. Have you? It''s very last resort..there are potential after effects ie/ memory loss. Wish I'd never had it.

I've not had it done. My doctor and I discussed it as a last resort. I don't think I need to have it done, but I was just wondering what others thought about it.

Well, if you are in a very severe life threatening depression (or mixed state or mania) some people do swear by ECT, to be fair.

If it's a choice between death & ECT maybe give it a go?

People who have less ECT (ie/ 6 to 12 sessions unilateral ECT) have far less problematic side effects, reportedly.

I was to have it as a last resort too. Luckily, God told me to shut the fuck up for a while.So they went from Schizo/affective guesswork to BP1.

They have mentioned it with me several times...I have been reluctant to do it -- for me I am going to really feel like it is the LAST resort.

I have accidentally done it to myself while I was changing the wall receptacle. It was kind of like taking PCP and ending up in a closet and not remembering anything that had happen to you.

And for someone who liked to high dose on acid not to like this is pretty weird.

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
