I don't know how to give a back story to this. I was recently diagnosed with Bipolar II. Been taking lamictal about a month. (tapered up from 25 now to 100 mg). I seemed to be doing better, but this week has been hell. I've missed work twice this week due to crying episodes and anxiety attacks. I have become absolutely hateful to my husband. No one wants to be around me. I am an absolute bitch. I have dug this hole...I honestly just think everyone around me would be better off without me. My husband certainly would. I don't know what to do about work. I need time off but I don't know if my psychiatrist will approve FMLA again because he didn't seem to believe me when I called with panic attacks the other night that everything was "that bad". I can't work like this. My husband deserves someone who won't mentally and emotionally abuse me. I can't have kids right now anyway even though I want that anymore than anything in the world. What good am I? I have been screaming for help but no one wants to listen. My husband, aunt, and uncle think I'm absolutely ridiculous for trying to say I may need inpatient hospitalization again, like they all know what I'm actually fucking going through. I even called the suicide hotline today, and she said "just hang tight till you can get in to see your doctor and maybe tweak some meds."
I am truly a burden to all those around me. I have a bad attitude and even though I recognize it more than anyone, I can't stop myself from being a complete asshole. I don't know what to do.

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

Hold on and continue to push your psychiatrist to tweak the medication if things don't even out in the next month or so.
The hardest part of working with this illness sometimes is waiting to get in to see your pdoc and get the much needed change in meds..
It does help! Don't let depression tell you it's compelling lies you are anything but a burden! There have been many times in your life when you have been kind, productive, and loving. Don't let this temporary place and the feelings that go along with it become a permanent solution.
When we're in a state of illness quite often baby steps are the best and most effective way to look at life IMHO..... One small step at a time... as acuriousfish wrote meds take time to work and quite often at the beginning we may have to try more then one to find out what works for each individual
You ? might be in a mixed state right now... or Lamictal ? might be causing the anger... Lamictal had me on the 'higher' side
I wouldn't try and guess what your psychiatrist is thinking... If you have a question I would just ask him Brittany and if you think you might need some time off I would let him know that right now you are under too much stress to be working
We do have a controllable illness sweetie and it takes time to find the right treatment and coping skills but you will... I'm glad you're with us on the board... It's a good place for friendship and support... Big hug for you and a blessing....x

I've been in that tornado of despair you're in right now. It's overwhelming when so many things seem out of control, most especially your mental well-being. Know that the people around you love you and know that you are ill. Know also that there are many psychiatrists so if it's not working with your current one -- get a new one.
For right this minute -- just do the next right thing. Block out all the other stuff and just do the next right thing. Find some peace and tranquility via music, hot bath, yoga, essential oils, meditation -- whatever helps to calm you. We're here for you!
If you're extremely irritable right now maybe coping skills would be the best thing to focus on....
"If I feel really angry I will go for a walk or I'll let my husband know that if I'm feeling angry I will go and have a half hour for myself in another room or take a long hot bath"..
