Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I'm sure most can relate to this, but after struggling along over the years with this and at times, with and around friends and family, I've been totally off the grid, it's no wonder I find myself alone so much and even when I finally found out I was bipolar...for me, it was somewhat welcomed news at least to know this THING had a name. BUT, with that diagnoses, I actually thought it would be good for others to know as well, so they could better understand me............WRONG. What I feel it's done is always make me suspect to any disturbance. I can't have any passionate conversations or get above a whisper without being told by my family, as they so fondly call it, having a melt down. I'm sorry, I know this site is suppose to be more about fun things and staying upbeat, but this is my only window to the world right now. I have no car to leave my house and even if I did, I couldn't leave my elderly dad alone. Otherwise I would try to go to a group counceling of sorts. I know of at least one on a third Friday. Anyway, thank you for allowing me to "share". :)

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
I would confront the ' having a meltdown' if I was just passionately discussing something by asking what the person means by that?... I would just stop talking and ask??... Let him/her look foolish
I have been ' out of the closet' for a very long time and I refuse to allow it to hurt me ... so it hasn't ..... I have actually had many people come to me to discuss 'their' mental health... Particularly depression
If someone is trying to 'use' BP as a negative way to 'feel superior' shame on them.... Just don't let them and they can't hurt you with it clijo... Big hug for you and a blessing....x
and work to keep us under their control. Find good people to hang around with.
I said, "I know I don't have to tell you, but I am bi-polar" his response was.." I really did not notice, you are doing ok...sometimes though I feel like going off on people too"..
That "going off" part of his response seem typical of people who don't know really anything about mental illness.
I worry about "acting" properly, and impulse control..but I never "went off" on anyone...I really don't intend to. If I get mad, I simply walk away... dunno..
It hurt my feeling a bit when he said that "oh, sometimes I feel like going off on people too..."..
As far as being upbeat, hopefully there is a mix for everyone here on DS. Not everyone feels good all the time and I question it if they put on that air that they do! We're supposed to be able to be ourselves and give and receive support high or low or anywhere in between.
Please don't feel like you have to be all "pollyanna". Sometimes I feel like I'm not posting enough positive things. But in reality how am I supposed to do that if I feel like shit? Just be yourself and we're here for you. Either way. You're good. Hugs.
Even my mom treated me differently afterward.
So don't say anything. It's an illness we have no control. Instead of compassion we get fear, or insults.
I'm glad you're here. You can discuss any problem you have.
We're all in this Bipolar world together.
And I think some of the finest people I have ever met are found here.
Watch out, she's gonna blooooow. Silly bastards
Like Muffin said, the jokes are just to blow off steam. Every one needs a break from the madness sometimes.
They're plenty a ppl with major issues and want to share. When the laughing done, all we have is each other.
So don't feel like you're a killjoy. Say what you feel whatever you feel. Doesn't have to be funny. Hell, at my darkest hour I've come running to DS. Without them I would be a sorry soul
