Don't Sneak Up Behind Me.

I was told I also have PTSD. When people sneak up behind me, it freaks me out. My son did it last and I got after him for it. I was on the computer doing stuff and listening to music. My husband walks up behind and it scared the help out of me.
Do any of you have this?

No. And it doesn't sound fun. When I was just out of the hospital when young I was quick to startle and hit.. but that went away. Sorry you are going thru this

I go through this. My current least favorite is when I think I am alone in the house and somebody pops out of the shadows.

Im sorry. I know how it goes.

For me, when I think that all is okay, a "ghost" from my past will show up-I mean literally. The girl that I had hung out with three years ago who is dangerous was outside walking yesterday.

So, I guess as long as I don't do anything stupid anymore, then I'll be okay, but my life will always be like that of my dad and siblings--"One day at a time" and always taking that moral inventory. Different "ism" but same program.

Yeah I warned my kids always to not come up behind me for that reason - When my oldest was 10 I was standing outside in the yard one night and she came up behind me - thankfully we were on the grass as I freaked and flipped her . Lesson learned do not approach mom from the back

I don't have PTSD, but I am very, very easily startled. I am constantly jumping. My desk at work faces a corner on an L-shaped desk, and co-workers just say "Kim" in a regular volume, and I jump.

Walking around the office, and someone pops out of a cubicle or a doorway unexpectedly, and usually both feet come off the floor.

At home, I jump every time I see my husband or son unexpectedly

I absolutely HATE IT. It's really upsetting to me.

Of course, everyone around me thinks it's soooooo hilarious!
