Do you use Ketamine

Does anyone here use Ketamine IV injections for their bipolar depression? I have been looking into it and my p doc is going to look into it further. Has it helped anyone or is there a bad side effect I should be aware of? I hear that it helps subside the depression almost 100% of the time but the testing groups was only make up of 18 people, so ia reluctant to try it as it is such a new way to use anesthesia.

The good thing is that it works fast. A friend was just telling me about this the other night. It's worth looking into. I didn't know people were actually using it - or doctors actually able to do it?

It is not like the street form and much more controlled. So don't go trying it on your own anyone!

p.s. My friend had not tried it but said he would rather wait until they do more testing on it.

I heard about Ketamine on the nightly news. I am going to ask my psychiatrist and do some research of my own. I had forgotten about this new drug. Thanks for reminding me! (-:

Bouncing this post back up because I just got my About.com Bipolar Disorder newsletter and it has an article about Ketamine. Sounds like it references the same study mentioned here, but perhaps it will have a bit more information for anyone who's interested.

this is news to me; surprising that should show up as a psych drug. Heard that they want to try Ecstasy (or have tried) for PTSD.

Kind of makes sense, although Ketamine, I don't understand that at all. Sounds disorienting but what do I know about it, really.

Seen a post before on this subject and me put it this way this time: did it three times. First two, didn't have what you would call a good time hallucinogetic ways but I was on another planet. Third time, fell down the K-Hole, thought I was dead, conversing with demons...and God actually, who was the Ghost of Christmas Present, but he was pissed...I've done my fair share of hard drugs my friend - stay away from Special K
Never injected, but cooked and sniffed - seen people inject it, didn't look pretty to me

I had horses for several years and Ketamine that I know about is a rather powerful sedative used on horses in higher amounts!!!! LOL...I don't know about what effect it would have on humans!!
