Do u have a pet? Does it help?

How many of us have pets that help us through the bad times? Just wondering if you find pets therapeutic like I do?

I have a little dog and he is my angel - my constant sidekick. He takes my focus off of myself a lot - he is very much overly confident and self-absorbed, lol, and makes me seek out his affection, which takes my mind off myself. At the same time, he follows me everywhere with his little ball to throw and has to be near me at all times (till daddy gets home). Such a joy in my life...a bright light on dark days.

I know that animals are often used in medical hospitals for therapy, but I think that those of us with psych issues can benefit just as much if not more from the love of an animal.

I have four dogs. And even though they are a pain in my neck I wouldn't know what to do without them, We have two boxers they are 3 yrs old and get into everything. I have a 8 yr old beagle. and a 12 yr old Chihuahua. Feeding and taking care of them is half of my day,

an obnoxious barky little dog .
Head strong and can get aggressive if he has something in his mouth, that he thinks belongs to him.

Roscoe has been with me through thick and thin...mania and depression..he's my buddy and I love him to pieces

I love hearing about all of your animals and how much they mean to you and help during tough times. Wish I could meet them all :)!! I'm a HUGE animal lover and believe so strongly in their healing power. So heart-wrenching to hear about those we've lost. I haven't been there yet but I dread it deeply. My lil guy is my heart and soul. If I don't see him in the room I'm in I go and search the house for him. He's usually just outside going potty if he's not underfoot. I'm a bit obsessed, obviously. He's my angel.

all of my life my pets have been my best friends.
I now have a dog (Sparky) who feels that he is velcroed to my body and 2 cats (Moose & Madeleine) who will crawl on me and stay the whole day if need be when I'm feeling bad physically or mentally.
They have gotten me through so much.
I can't imagine a life without animals.

My animal friends have been the best supports throughout my life. My cat Penelope showed me grace after I had a traumatic miscarriage. She knew how much I was hurting and she offered comfort that it seemed no human could.
I would love to adopt a dog but my schedule and living space isn't the best right now. Someday...

I don't think I would still be here of not for my little boy spike, he has saved me so many times when I was so ready just to give up because the pain mentally and physically was just too much.

He is my first dog and since I never had children he is the child I never had and could never have wished for one better. He knows when I'm not doing good and is always there to lick my years away. I know that I will not voluntarily leave him first but if something happens I have financially guaranteed his welfare and my bff or sister will make sure he lives out his life to the fullest.

I can not imagine my life with him not there by my side with his unconditional love.

i have four cats and a snake and yeah i find it very beneficial to have them around when the going gets tough (tho the baby of the family is still an ankle biter lol)

Yes I do, a loving 7 year old Jack a Bee ( or mix of a jack russell/ beagle). He is so very comforting and is my constant buddy .

I love my dog. She always makes me happy, how can you not be happy seeing that tail wag. I feel needed, loved, accepted. Pets are wonderful to have.

I have 2 cat, Cooper and Daisy. Cooper is a big fluffy Birman and Daisy was abandoned and showed up on my doorstep. Daisy is much smaller but very aggressive and is always after Cooper. I keep wishing she'd run away until at night she comes up on the bed and cuddles.

They will both come to be petted if I say "Coochie Coo". Then I pet them and say "Coochie coo, coochie coo, coochie coochie coo."
Yeah, they're my babies.

I have a cat, Arwen "Sochi" Evenstar. Yes, pets are very theraputic,but more for my son than for me. For my son, our cat has been a God send.
