Well, it sure helps. My last husband told me he was a Christian, but turned out not to be. I had told him I would only marry a Christian. It definitely caused problems in our marriage.

My current boyfriend (and, hopefully, future husband) is a Christian and I just ADORE him. It helps our relationship a lot. We even attend church and/or watch TV church (Joel Olsten and Charles Stanley) together every week. It is great!

It can cause some difcualitys but every marige has hard times, if they love each and respect each othere's diferances I dont see why it could not work no marige comes with a warenty. I am maried to a wonderfull man but I still want to beat him tell I am not satfyed some times. He is still alive and I have never chocked the life out of him. men are all brain damaged they can't help it. If you rember that its all good

It works both ways

I say everyone go agnostic since religions are all BS anyway. Then there is no difference in the way each feels about God or their higher power.
Sorry, really HATE all religions. You can thank the Catholics for that and 12 yrs. of bullshit, beatings, and beratings while I was growing up in the Catholic school system.

I say they don't need to be exact same religion but they must have same view of religion in general, if that makes sense. Some people don't believe in religion and I would guess a relationship with a very religious person would not work, in my opinion.

Although I agree ,organized religion is just DOGMA...I have a personal relationship with my Higher Power.

Dancing...don't see any diffs between the catholics I hate so much than the southern baptists, the evangelicals, mormons, jehovah's witnesses, the muslims, every religion there is. So why should I discriminate in my hatred of all religions? :-) They ALL try to control us with fear. They all SUCK!

It depends upon the people. Are they open or closed minded? Do they accept others or fear them?

My husband lost his BF because his friends wife did not like that we weren't Christians. Yet I tell you that was the least christian thing a person can do to another.

My husband is not christian but I will bet many of the single christian women here would swear he was in his deeds nd his actions if not his words. He will say there is nothing beyond that he wants to donate organs then have his ashes scattered.

To be devout Christian is a totally different matter Church every sunday Bible Study Wednesday and Couples study Thursday and BTW if your family is not the same religion you either convert or you should not see them.

I was part of that type of Church. The Boston Church of Christ. We had a service in the Celtics Stadium.

I lost religion when I was old enough to realize it was a way to accept death.

I am not afraid of death. He will be a welcome sight.

Neither me nor my wife go to any church anymore. She was raised in one faith and me in another. Sometimes I can see the pain in her eyes when we visit her relatives. Her relatives bend her ear that I am going to hell. I already knew that and I don't mind, just as long as they have food and internet connection.

Our lives would have been more harmonious if we had at least been on the same block of Churchs.

I think it helps if you both believe the same way but if not you should probably have some premarital counseling to help you work through the differences and decide how you will raise your kids if you have them.

Ignorance is a dangerious thing

I couldn't do it regardless. I know how I want to raise my children and I could not compromise. I just know myself well enough. So I married someone with the same values, morals, political views and we are both Christian. We were also raised very similar to each other. I can honestly say we have had zero problems with any of the mentioned above. Thank goodness cuz all marriages have issues at one time or another and that was the last thing I needed to worry about!

I think you need to be the same religion.
