When I am manic I don't eat, I can get very thin and people tell me I look great - but I know its unhealthy - still I like being thin.
Then when I am depressed I eat alot and gain weight. In fact gaining weight is one of the ways I notice I am depressed. I am on great meds now so I have no extreme swings - just mildly depressed and I keep eating. And of course gaining weight mildly increases my depression. I hate the extra weight but I keep trying to sooth myself with food.
I think not eating is the main thing I miss about my mania. I wish I could have just that part of it back.

Hey All...I hope that you have a lovely, peaceful beginning of your weekI have a bunch of chores that need doing but may put them off til tomorrow and just hang out with my landlord/roomie todayWhat about you?...Anything special going on?Have a great day and take good care of you!!..Xo

Now, I've been mostly stable. My meds have kept me in check for a while as well--I still have ups and downs, but they're not as severe as they used to be. For the past--well, I don't even know how long anymore...--I've been dealing with a low-level depression. Not too bad, but I could be better. And now I just keep eating. It sucks, because I've gained so much weight, with the increased appetite and the meds. And it kind of makes me wish a full on depression would just come so I could lose some weight again (weird wish I know, but I'm just kinda sick of the static nature of my mild depression.)...It's weird that when I was really depressed I couldn't eat at all, but now being mildly depressed I want to eat everything.
Anyway, I know what you mean. The weight gain isn't helping me with my light depression either. Actually recently, I've been getting some hypomania too, but it's alternating with some slightly worse depression now...and either way I'm eating...Especially cause recently when I'm hypomanic, my thing is that I want to cook all the time. I love cooking.
totally agree with burgermaster on this one
hugs

I know what a pain losing weight can be, but I also know how great it makes you feel to know you are on the path to better health. Now, if only I could quit smoking lol!
