Things are already being affected. With the government shutdown, effective last midnight, military just lost all but emergency medical care. Guess what that includes? Yep, mental health that is not an emergency. I don't know if they are gonna cover meds either, and several family members, myself included, are due for refills. The whole thing sucks.

Praying for swift resolutions to this all...

The government was shutdown and I saw on the news that Social Security payments and Medicare payments WILL NOT BE AFFECTED.

I believe WIC, HUD, state parks, gov civilian workers, and possibly SNAP benefits will be affected. I guess you need to check, if you have SNAP, by calling the number on the back of your EBT card to check your balance.

Let's vote these obstructionists out!

It's not the government shutdown that I am worried about it is the debt ceiling crisis on the 17th if they can't come to an agreement to raise it then then we cannot get anymore money from the treasury. So right now everything is fine, but it's the 17th I am worried about.

don't worry! Your going to throw away 17 days! This is not the first time, and our SS will not be effected! Truly, living near Base, I see what happens when it shuts down, most people get paid to stay home..... not take away programs!

We have waited three months to get in to see a new pdoc...I had to cancel the appointments because or referral is no longer valid because of the shutdown...I am worried. I can't do my pt...I can't get my spinal injections, I don't even know if we can get meds...they may be paying the military, but they are hurting us in other ways...no GI bill means no college for me...the list goes on...

I welcome the 17th. I do not want to continue to fund Obama destruction
This somewhat effects his pockets to get him ( dictator ) off his throne.
However last year, he has said that he can not be touched and that he is above all government. That station wings were cut for airing Obama saying that.
I know how to gather eggs n pluck chickens n milk cows n raise garden. however if Obama gets his way it may become against the law for me to do so : I After all, we are to come to depend soly on goverment for everything and to bow down to Obama/government.

And, in December, some people believed this would be the end of the world. Did this happen ?? Of course not. Speaking for myself, I can't watch too much of the news. It makes me not only go into panic attacks, but manic episodes as well. The sky is not falling. We are going to be o.k.

The thought it kind of daunting. Not "kind of", it is daunting! I'm not a senior but am on SSDI because of bp. I would lose everything, which isn't much. Man, if I feel hopeless now, what will become of me? I don't even want to entertain the thought. I'm going to go with reply #1's sentiments and believe. It's the safest thought, at least for me.
