Bipolar Disorder Support Group

I will be beginning DBT once again at the end of the month, today I see my therapist for the second time now.
I get so triggered when I go to therapy, hell just the drive up there can make me feel so anxious and like throwing in the towel.....I have to constantly push my self and that gets so old doesn't it?? But I know it's gotta be done because my anger issues need to be dealt with, can't emphasize that enough!
I'm nervous & anxious this morning but coping ok, I keep telling myself I need this, my family needs me to do this, things like that to help keep it right in my head.
I tend to minimize my issues when I am in therapy. I was raised always hearing that things could be much worse and I think that has helped in that minimization of my own thoughts, feelings etc. Mom was just doing her best at the time.
Anyway, I'm struggling a bit atm, the closer it gets to therapy time the higher my anxiety goes. Trying to keep perspective here but damn it's hard.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

You'll do great, I gotten through and learned it, So can you.
Just try to stop obsessing on it.
Love the Wolf
The biggest part of most my battles? The getting there!!! Lots of good stuff, vibes and prayers coming your way!!!!
also, wishing you some comfort and peace ASAP! I know your plate is full, and I so wish I could Give you (((((BIG HUG)))))
I ended up being sad when it ended! I know you're sick of pushing yourself but it will be worth it!
I think also that DBT has an association with Borderline disorder and severe problems and it's easy to think of ourselves as 'incurable' or 'desperate' or whatever. Try not to put any labels on yourself and think of it like you would some random academic class where you have to memorize facts. I know that might sound silly, but it might help.
Good luck. And by the way, I've done CBT and in general I think cognitive/behavioral therapies are really, really helpful. I genuinely believe that they're just as useful as meds (though not a replacement, of course- just an adjunct and another tool)
Good for you for doing this!
I got to therapy and it went real well.....start my diary cards tomorrow...see here we go, time to rock n' roll in DBT!!! lol
Zsa I love your idea about looking at this as if it were a shop class...I did the whole labeling thing the last time I tried DBT and I am so not going there again. Labeling doesn't get ya anywhere but sad.
I'm so hoping to learn new skills so that I deal with anger in an entirely new light...looking forward to this even with the jitters I get!!
Thanks again guys......really appreciate the help!!
Hang on tats... Once you get there you decide what you're up to discussing.. Perhaps this anxiety over appts. might be a good topic?
You're going to make it sista ...
I hope your anxiety level goes down soon..xo
