Does anyone know of any good DBT workbooks, or any resources in general that may be beneficial to someone who gets the basic idea of ir but had to quit going to classes?
Also, I know absolutely nothing about meditation, but I think it'd be a good thing to learn to do right now. Any books, good youtube channels, ect that may help me out?

It's been some time since my last post...sorry. I've been going through a challenging time with the sale of my home, purchase of a condo and my adult asperger son that lives with me. I've had days where I couldn't get out of bed, days where I stayed in my pj's and days where all I managed to do was eat, drink fluids and take care of my Sweet Mia kitty. If I come to DS and it won't do anything when I click "Login", I go to a post, click and then click "Leave a Reply". Then it will let me log in.Of course, sometimes DS just goes to "Error 504". Then I can't log in.

DBT is not a Therapy that was ever meant to be self-taught. Its meant to be taught in a group setting with classwork and homework. Its done this way so that people can bounce ideas and work off of each other and learn where there going right and what they've not understood and done wrong, then they have someone to show them the right way. DBT is a Therapy that works towards helping people increase their emotional and cognitive regulation by learning about the triggers that lead to reactive states and helping to assess which coping skills to apply in the sequence of events, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to help avoid undesired reactions. DBT assumes that people are doing their best but lack the skills needed to succeed, or are influenced by positive reinforcement or negative reinforcement that interferes with their ability to function appropriately.
It is a way of retraining your brain to think in a "Mindfulness" way. It is not easy, and doing it on your own can be quite overwhelming.
I completed my DBT classes in 2013 and I still go to a weekend Peer Study Support group once a year to go over the Basic Principles so they stay in my mind.
You can always ask your Therapist or Pdoc where and when DBT Classes start in your area.
Take care,
Kat
