I was diagnosed BP in 1991. I believe I was born with it. I have not had success with medication except for temporary relief. I have a very sensitive body. My life on medication is just as difficult as my life without it. I still use meds occationally when I need a break. Unfortuately that is all they seem to be good for. But that's OK. I have found a lot of tools to help. Would love feed back.

I don't take meds at all for my BP. I was born with it and have always had it and wasn't diagnosed till 05 with it. I've definetly had my break downs but the idea of being dependent on pills the rest of my life scares the hell out of me. I just keep watch on how I'm acting how I'm feeling and if I feel a down swing coming on I do things that are calming to me. Listening to music, I watch Disney movies, curl up with a teddy bear, just simple things that keep my attention and aren't dangerous in any way. So far it seems to be working.

One of the biggest challenges I faced was coming to terms with knowing I would be on meds the rest of my life. I am glad you found a way around it. But for me to live as close to "normal" as possible I have to stay on them. Kudos to you though

Without my meds I don't function well. So I have to take the daily. I am happy for you that you can make it work without them.

i was off my meds for about 6 months or so. i was doing really good until i got a lot of stress handed to me. if u read my journals you'll totally understand. i support anyone that can do it without med, but now i know i have to be on them. i can't deal with stress too well.

Yeah stress really gets to me too. When i lost my mother and brother i went off the wall crazy and depressed. But now I really have no stressors as I am a loader at UPS which really doesn't require any stress and probably relieves it. The only thing that might hurt me off is school but not sure if i want to go back or maybe i can make it without them because of all my other activities.

CBT is something I tried relentlessly to follow without medication. I'm hoping with medication it makes it easier. I get too extreemly depressed and trapped feeling when i do it normally, which is why i've had a tendancy to give up.
