Maybe this is good news. My doc said that Lamictal is going generic VERY soon.

i just stopped lamictal cold turkey because of the rash...my doc said there would be no side effects...he also never told me the rash could be fatal...you guys did...im seriously considering a whole new team of professionals...no wonder i felt like i was gonna faint today

Unfortunately not soon enough. I'm already weaned to 1/2 my dose and once I'm off, I have zero intention of going back on. I'd rather my ups and downs than be on meds that don't work and cause this rage and seizures coming off it.

I quit cold turkey. I did not experience any seizures. However, I did experience some serious rage that lasted about 2 to 3 weeks. Good luck!

i am supposed to start taking lamictal tomorrow for tx of depression...doc is still considering bipolar because of extreme agitation, rage, and mood swings...but not sure yet. i just finished withdrawal from effexor...which was hell on earth and do not want to go through anything like that again. one withdrawal symptom...among many...included severe brain zaps/brain shivers which someone else also mentioned here...a common withdrawal symptom from meds that work on seratonin levels. my psych told me that brain zaps are not common from lamictal withdrawal because it does not work on seratonin levels...is this wrong? can you explain what you mean by having these "small seizures"...are you experiencing them or just anticipating them...or are you talking about brain zaps/shivers? just trying to get more clarification? i experienced withdrawal from effexor for a solid 2 wks once i was completely weened off it...but everyone is different so you have to be really careful about assuming your experience will be the same as others. supposedly withdrawal from effexor is know to be horrible because it has a really short half-life...from what i've heard...lamitcal is not known to be as bad...so hopefully you'll be feeling better soon! i have been taking clonazepam to deal with the withdrawal symptoms...which has helped make it slightly more tolerable. did your doc give you anything to help take the edge off?

I'm super sorry about youre kids though babe...I understand about the frustration with the lamictal..it cost a fortune when you don't have insurance_like do they just want BP people running around without meds? really, especially when we want to take our meds? sorry, not helping you much, just sharing your frustration

Maybe the rage is not a side-effect. Having to go off my meds cause insurance is being cut would totally have me raging too. Just joking. I know it's not funny. Sorry.

i am still on lamactial, and the dr said if we were to wean me off of it it would take about 3 weeeks for the "brain zaps" to stop if they started. hope it helps a little

oh and i am very sorry that you have to go thru the med change again. i know it sucks. am looking at having to change some of mine. i am on lamictal and luckliy i have it paid for thru the partnership for perscription assistance program or i would not know how i would pay for it

I get my lamictal in generic form from a canadian pharmacy for about a third of the price of what we get it in the states. Boy, you've got to love our free market, not!

I've gotten my lamictal for free in the past from county/state health services. It takes a bit of work for me to bring myself to the point where I can take charity. But if the choice is charity or sanity, I'll take sanity.

"Brain zaps": my eyes move rapidly for 2-3 seconds, I can feel my whole body twitch or freeze up for those few seconds and it makes me dizzy..I hear what sounds like a car passing by really fast with each eye movement.

I've been informed of my gov't assistance being cut at the end of this month. I know lamictal is cheaper in canada and they have the generic form. I also have info from pharmaceutical companies to get assistance there, but it wouldn't be quick enough. I'm opting to go off the meds for a period of time til I get my ssi (hopefully) and get some medicare.

If I do go off my rocker once I'm off everything, I will pursue the pharmaceutical companies for assistance.
