Have you tried a generic stabilizer like valproic acid, tegretol, or even lithium. There are other options. I needed to switch to all generics due to insurance/cost issues. I am now on generic depakote and klonapin and doing ok. They are very cheap.

When I came off Lamictal I had little siezures..I didn't even realise I was having them ,because I guess they only lasted for a few seconds..I would turn my head sideways in a rocking motion...the BF pointed them out to me.When I realsed wht was happening ,I freaked.Pdoc said the mild seizures coming off were pretty common.But if I lost conciousness or fell to the ground,I was supposed to seek medical help.

As for the side effects..yeah..I remember feeling enraged and totally into a kind of madness.That lasted about a week,then it slowly tapered off to just my normal everyday rage.
I felt the shivers and trembling,and sick to my stomac.

OMG..I am so sorry you have to change meds ,because of an insurance issue...those bastards!

my seizures are very small. My eyes shift quickly causing my whole body to either twitch or freeze up.

My pdoc told me that's normal. Does it take a week after you're completely weaned off? Or a week after you start weaning?

I had what I called "brain Zapps" I guess they were mini seizures. They went away within about two weeks.

This is scaring me. I just started coming off the Lamictal yesterday, but my pdoc is gradually reducing it. For those of you who've experienced side effects, did you taper off or go cold turkey? I just mentioned the rage to my husband and he said, "Oh God!" Poor man.

I'm tapering down per pdoc instructions...but it's causing some severe rage and little "brain zaps" (mini seizures).

Can anyone tell me if it takes the 1-2 weeks for the withdrawals to stop from beginning to wean or after you're completely weaned off?

Thanks Elaine...still looking for the actual answer though. It's a matter of whether it'll take me a week or a month and a half. Just want to know how long I'll be like this.
