Rise Above
The sadness overcomes me
I fear I've lost all hope
The pain I hide inside me
Scarcely can I cope
My body was a temple
Holy ground to tread
An object I became
And soon I lost my head
I fell into the darkest hole
One of pity and self hate
Dwelling on the heartache
And blaming life on fate
But there always comes a time
When you look into a mirror
Put your arms around yourself
And see yourself much clearer
I look inside my own mind
And suddenly I see
The face of a friend I know
Truly she will be
You often put me in my place
Not knowing what I'll do
A lot of pain has come your way
This I know is true
Today I hold you close to me
Reflecting on your words
I listen to the peaceful silence
The sound of chirping birds
And all at once I know my worth
A time for me is here
To enjoy my life on Earth
That time is very near
I know that life is not all bad
Much love for me and you
We hold each other close
Our love is very true
I pick myself up off the floor
I dry my tears myself
I pull myself together
And glory in my wealth
Love is all around me
I feel it very strong
And in my heart I know
My life is not all wrong
My babies laugh deep and long
Their laughter fills my heart
I know this day is my day
But this is just a start
As time goes by I know I'll find
My very special place
When I look down now I see
Heaven in my children's face
That heaven I see is very clear
God's love for me and you
He loves us still even with
All that I might do
That love I hold deep inside
My pride and joy shall be
The love I hold very dear
And so close to me
TW
Last Night's Tears
I'm sitting in an emotional hole
A pistol by my side
I'm so afraid to hold on
Can't afford my courage to be tried
What is life
Without love
I've been given nothing
Not even from above
I once had love
From many a friend
But that love
Soon came to an end
He raped me, beat me
Left me for dead
I lay there bleeding
On my bed
At nine years old
I knew not
Except the things
That I was taught
Now I'm older
And thought to be wise
But they all look at me
As no more than a prize
I try so hard
To be good
They all say
I never could
So now I sit
So, so sad
Love in my life
I've never had
Not allowed to talk
Not permitted to cry
So this once
Can I die
You look at me
With sad eyes
I do dare trust you
It builds all ties
Please hold me close
This one time
Before I commit
The biggest crime
My life ain't worth it
Not to me
A failure to them
Is all I'll be
I know you care
But I don't
You say hold on
But know, I won't
My tears won't fall
They stay inside
From this world
They sure hide
I say I'm fine
But you know I'm not
Love in my life
Is all I sought
You said you'd be here
And I thought How
Your spirit's with me
I feel it now
I'm now alone
In this treacherous place
Search my heart
I see your face
You hold me close
This one time
My face is damp
The tears are mine
I still remember
The love I had
You say it's OK
I'm not bad
My tears fall
In steady streams
The silent air
Fills with screams
I remember the laughter
I remember the tears
I remember your voice
How you quieted my fears
I'm all alone
But you are here
My life's not empty
It's now so clear
I take the gun
And put it away
As sunlight starts
To fill my day
Keep smiling
Hang in there
It does get better

Hey, I need some advice... My dad is a hard core alcoholic and for the last week I've been by myself watching over him. Well it was suppose to be the other way around. He came in from Arizona to help take care of me so I WOULDN'T be alone. The stress of having to deal with him and his constantly changing rules where my kids are concerned and his stumbling around is really getting to me.
Any advice?? Or should I post it on the BP board??
Is your dad just in temporarily? When is he set to leave? I think you have a strong point that him being drunk around your children is completely inappropriate. Further, if he is a guest why is he changing rules? The unpredictability of an alcoholic in the house could be very detrimental to your children - they're very impressionable at 12 and 13. Imo, you have a duty to them, to protect them. But you need to keep yourself safe as well.
if you can get a chance to talk to your father when he is sober you may have some hope of getting through to him. there's no point in talking to a drunk. can you address the issue with your mother? or anyone else? hugs to you
