We all know one or two Christmas freaks. You know..... the lady who starts wearing light up earrings and Santa sweaters in October and wears a santa hat at the office starting the day after Thanksgiving. They are the ones waiting in line at Target at 11pm for the midnight opening on black Friday.
Well this year our office Christmas freak is in charge of the festivities at the office. So we are having two Christmas parties, one formal at a fancy restaurant, and one informal in the office where we will exchange secret santa gifts. In addition during the week of the informal party we have to give our secret gift recipient a gift EVERYDAY! Seriously. 5 daily gifts then the big gift at the party which should be purchased from the website that she sent us so we can buy from artists. We are also having a cookie exchange where we have to bake 6 dozen cookies and package them in a dozen pretty little boxes or baskets. AND we are having a "wear your most hideous christmas attire" day. AND a wear Christmas socks day. I don't even own any Christmas wear and I'll be damned if I go buy something just for this. Bah Fucking Humbug!
WTF. I don't put this much effort into Christmas at home. It isn't even December yet and I'm already sick of Christmas. My kids are all doing Christmas with their significant other's families so I'm not even getting a tree or doing a dinner..... I was looking forward to a nice simple Christmas where all I had to do was get simple gifts for my kids and parents.
I can't wait for my turn to do the festivities...... one party at a restaurant and a food drive for the food bank. Period. No fucking secret santa, no fucking Christmas socks.
Ok, That's it. I just needed to vent. Everyone can go back to looking forward to Christmas.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

i hide from these types.
Is the parties and shit mandatory? If they are, Im sorry for ya. For real.
I agree with the BAH FUCKING HUMBUG!!! UGH!
HOWEVER, that shit just does not get it!!!!!! I do my partying on my own terms - not by command. I can't think of any graceful way you can get out of it all. But am wondering, how does that leave time for your family and a little bit of "you" time???
( no disrespect meant for my Jewish friends)
I guess she thinks that you just use your paycheck to throw in the wind. WTH.........what pressure to participate.
1. daily secret gifts...a pack of gum, piece of candy or small cards saying you donated to a charity in their name. (but actually donate, even if it is a dollar)
2. Secret santa gift at party...a $5 giftcard or a pack of pens from the dollar store, if you have to buy from the website, a $5 gift certificate from there.
3. Cookie exchange...buy a box of Christmas oreos and put them in those cheap cellophane bags you can buy like 10 for a $1.
4. Hideous Christmas attire....one year our family had an "ugly Christmas sweater" party. We found an old sweater or bought one at goodwill and drew on it with sparkle glue and put cotton balls all over it.
5. Christmas socks...You can buy that Christmas cellophane for wrapping food this time of year and wrap it around your leg for a sock and even use it for your cookies if you dont want to buy the bags. Then wrap the box of cellophane and give it to the christmas freak for a gift, bwaaaahahahaha!!!
Have fun with it.......OMG, that is really going overboard and nothing in there is about the true meaning of Christmas......unless you make donations. xo
that said, this is ridiculous. the spirit of christmas is meant to be enjoyed, not mandated. whenever we had "secret santa" at the office, the total amount to be spent on all gifts was not to exceed $10, which at the time i could afford. however, participation was voluntary.
i'm with shelly and her ideas if you must participate.
bah humbug to all!
