I would stick to something that you identify with- when people say "Annie" does it sound like your name? I mean, does it feel like a natural?

I like the name Ruth. Or Harriet. :-)

That is a big decision. A name is a first impression and we all know how important those are. My sons name is Remmington just for that reason. I can only say consider your choice carefully,

You may find you can simply just do it.

I think in the UK if you use another name, especially a first name and you are consistent in it, it's legal. (As long as you are not trying to decieve). I don't think here you need to legally change it.

In the US, you would definitely need to change it legally, but that's not hard.

1. Social Security Office to change it.
2. DMV to get drivers license (and registration on car changed).
3. Post Office

Other things:
a) you might want to change the name on your degrees, if you have them
b) insurance policies
c) banks and other financial things

Its all about how comfortable you are with you. If you need or want to change your name, you can call yourself Yellow, if you want. As long as you are happy and in control, everything else will fall into place.

A name is the first thing we identify ourselves with so it's understandable you want to think both the decision through and what name you would like. If Annie "feels" right to you and doesn't have any trigger or negative connotations, that's definitely a possibility. But why not give yourself a little time to explore your options. You never know, you may find something that really speaks to you!

I'd love to change my name to the double name. B, maiden name hyphen last name.

DMV made me feel like a second class citizen since I couldn't prove my birth certificate was really me. Married 34 yrs, so I really am feeling as if I totally lost my identity somewhere down the line.

According to my lawyer with my business names etc (dba) you can use any name you wish as long as it is not for the purpose of fraud or deceit or complicity. Except your SS card issued in your legal name which is what ever name is on you picture ID (DL) which by the way can be what ever you fill out on the application I dont use my real name almost anywhere anymore.

in this post 9/11 world, you unfortunately need a legal name and in order to have that you would have to go before a judge and pay about $50...no biggie. I like Annalisia, and you could still go by annie.

Well I really do like the name Faith, but you know me, I am all for what makes u feel better. I would do what has been suggested here try on the name for like a year and see how it feels. The if u like it then I would say go head and legally change it, if it feels good do it, just make sure ur doing it for all the right reason's. It will not change who u are, or your memories, but maybe make life a little easier. If u can learn to let go of the past, like all of us, we are victums, these things were done to us, we did not choose it to happen to us, but it did none the less. When we learn to accept things for what they are then we can change our future. I learned to change my kids future because of what happened to me, so I found a way to be grateful for what has happened, because I did not let it happen to my kids, so for that I am grateful. I would much rather it be me then them. So I have learned to find gatitude in tragedy, Maybe u can as well one day. Well already a book, just thinking about u that is it. Give me a jingle anytime u want. Or just im me and I am here for you anytime day or night.

#11 in this post 9-11 world I just got my multi-use passport in my alias w/o a problem my Drivers license had my alias and my SS card had my real name they even asked me which one I wanted to use.

I know in Canada you can change your name to anything you want so long as it is not obscene or for illegal purposes. It was a big fad in the 70's and about 20 people I knew changed theirs. I wanted my last name to be different, because no-one knew how to spell it, so I got married. Twice in fact - it's fun having different names.

Faith sounds great - or maybe Grace? You should google them as names, and see if anyone has the name and whether you can relate to it. Lots of people use names that remind them of something. I had a friend named Annelisa once, she was Danish, and went by Lisa. I don't think that would work for Anneka, though.
