This is off-topic.....but I am really stressing about a homework assignment I completed. I'm not actually sure I got the question right.
I mean the stories could have more of an impact on me if I actually took heed and paid attention. My one friend says she will keep telling me to save money till I am blue in the face and says that she will probably be dead before I understand what she's trying to say. Well anyway here goes. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!
My assignment:
I can think of a few parables that have had a huge impact on me. One of them is the story with the moral Curiosity killed the cat. Why? Because my curiosity ends up getting me into trouble all the time I end up getting into arguments with the kids or husband because of it. Sometimes I should just mind my own business. Another parable that had a huge impact on me is a penny saved a penny earned. Whenever an emergency comes up I find myself relying on the parents or the husband or another friend for help. If I could just learn the value of money I wouldnt need to lean on anyone else but myself. I find myself too often with needing help with finding money for my much needed bipolar meds or something simple as a pain reliever or a cough or a cold medicine. I guess I always think that my support system will help me out. Last year my parents bought my daughter her school clothes because they knew that I was low on money and that she needed some. This year my daughters Christmas present was more clothes because she outgrew all the clothes she had last year. Another parable that has a huge impact on me is slow and steady wins the race. The parable with the tortoise and the hare; I constantly end up doing things way to fast like cleaning or homework and could have done a much better job if I would just take my time and slow things down. On one of my Hispanic literature tests last semester; I could have gotten a better grade on one of my tests if I would have taken my time instead of rushing through and being the first one done. I even miss spots when cleaning. My husband always complains that the bathroom could use a better cleaning than what I give it and complains about missed sections or spots. I guess I really need to learn and appreciate these parables more than I do. I am still going to have to rely on my support system for help at least until the fall. And I am a speed cleaner and it could always use a better job than what I give it. Anymore the husband doesnt complain much about the cleaning. All he seems to care about now is that it gets done.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
The next step would have been to tell your own story relating specific aspects of your experience to elements in the proverb and using the ending of your story to reiterate the wisdom in the proverb.
For instance, when in your life were you so curious about a particular situation that your curiosity got the best of you. How has that experience changed the way you approach life?
The key to writing well is to first isolate the purpose for your writing or the specific question that is to be explored or answered.
After that the writing will be easy because you will have avoided the mire of confusion.
Sorry, composition lesson is over. Good luck. Many hugs.
A woman was checking her mail one day and realized that her husband had opened a credit card at a high end department store. In fact, he had charged several thousand dollars on the account.
She immediately called the credit department and demanded to be given the information about what was purchased. She was positive someone had stolen her husband's identity.
Due to the fact that the account had been opened solely in her husband's name and he was not there to provide permission for the credit rep to speak with her, nothing could be discussed with her.
She was became very belligerent, verbally abusive, and demanded to work her way through the chain of command until she could speak to someone who would give her the information she wanted.
She said that she had been married almost twenty-five years and her husband had never opened a consumer credit account and had never darkened the door of any store except Lowes, Home Depot, or Bass Pro Shop. He paid cash for everything except their home and automobiles.
After quite a while speaking with multiple representatives and managers, she said she would just call her husband and get him to come home immediately so he could call, and she slammed the phone down.
About an hour later, her husband called and he verified the information on his account and apologized for his wife's behavior. He said he did not think that he would have received a statement of the credit account so quickly.
He had indeed opened the credit account and made the nearly $5000 purchase. Because their 25th Wedding Anniversary was coming up, he decided to buy her a diamond ring because he could not afford one when they first married, and every time he had brought up the subject of a ring, she had always said it was nonsense to buy a ring when they could use the money on the kids or other more important things.
He said it was quite out of the ordinary for him to even consider opening a credit account, but the store was offering a 20% discount and a no interest/no payment promotion for up to 18 months with all new credit accounts. He said that was a good deal and he wasn't about to pass it up.
He apologized for his wife's behavior again saying that he knew how she was when she got upset and that she had given some people pure hell. He said that she was going to personally apologize to the individuals she had spoken with previously and asked if that could be arranged. He then handed the phone to her, and in the background you could hear him saying if you don't apologize to those poor people I am going to take the ring back. Damn, woman, you have to get your nose into everything. Not once in 25 years have I ever been able to surprise you. Now apologize.
This is a true story because I worked as a training manager and just happened to be acting as manager on duty that day. I was last the last person she had spoken with the first time she called.
I sent messages to the representatives she had spoken with previously to come to my office and put her on speaker phone. With her husband listening on another phone in their home she offered sincere apologies for her behavior.
This is an example of curiosity nearly killing the cat.
I have to admit that was one day that I truly enjoyed my job.
