OMG!!!! I had the same appt today!!!!! she gave me .5mg of klonopin 3 times a day, that will do nothing for me!!!!!!! Please, Please let me know any other options!!!!!

Well, I can only hope I can continue to have luck with my doc of 8 years. He's been alternating Xanax and Klonopin. One month it's one and the next month it's the other.

To be honest, he may not realize he's hooking me up like that given how busy he is. But let's hope he keeps it up. I also have Panic Disorder and benzos are the only things that work.

i maxed out on benzo's.....my zyprexa helps with my anxiety along with atarax(prescription strength antihistamine) anxiety with BP sucks...may this pass for you sooon...im free of the crippling anxiety...i get it mild..but it passes with breathing exercises. I wish this for you as well to have freedom of this Cage of anxiety~hugs

Did she notice your anxiety while you had your visit with her? I think that sucks that she didn't prescribe you a benzo! Some Pdocs will just not prescribe Benzos for some reason. Especially going through a depressive-anxiety episode like you are.

Do you think that the Depakote and raising your lithium level will help you?

Try not to stress too much. Give these new meds and try and you never know, your anxiety level may go down. Don't lose faith....

That is what the doc seems to think; the increased lithium and addition of Depakote should take care of the anxiety.

I hope something does. I have not left my house in 5 days (except for the pdoc and Brunch). I tried to go for Brunch yesterday, but the panic was so overwhelming. I quickly paid and fled.

Your doc sounds like she could use being diagnosed and heavily sedated. I've used a lot of anti-psychotics and tranquilizers and only ever had one panic attack. Better to be loopy on benzos than anxious without them! (I reject the idea that any med will make me loopy.)

This anxiety is killing me, I don't leave my place, and when I try, I flee. It is awful!! I have never had issues with anxiety at all in my life, this is a first.

I am so sorry you are dealing with such bad anxiety. I know I couldn't live without my xanax.

I have very bad anxiety. I go unmedicated. =(

I get panic attacks and have ruminating thoughts and can't fall asleep. My pdoc has me on 3mg clonazepam at night and I can take it during the day if needed. since I have been on the zyprexa, I have gotten myself down to 1.5 mg of clonazepam at night. I am glad cus it works better when I have a panic attack if I am not used to taking alot.

All I take is Lamictol and Lexapro so far it has helped ...but I'm sure I will need a anti anxiety. But I pray I don't have to. but the doc. said the more I take Lamictol and up the dose if need be..the less anxiety I will have....

It's hogwash!!! The trend right now is to get away from benzos. Why, I don't know. I know that when my former pdoc told me that she wanted to titrate me off the benzos, I complied. I experienced the worse anxiety since the death of my father and lost my job because of it. I went pdoc shopping and found my dream pdoc. He actually listens to me and take into consideration my experience as a nurse when we talk about medications. The pdoc you saw doesn't know what debilitating anxiety can be like. Otherwise they would have given you the benzos. Or at the very least put you on BuSpar.

When you are stable and your medication levels are where they should be, you anxiety should get better.. though I am not sure it will go completely away - maybe that is what she is hoping?

My pdoc was of the same thinking, that is until i slit my wrist and tried to hang myself in the hosptial waiting room. On 4 mg of klonopin per day now.

maybe you could try Valerian, an herb you can buy at Walgreens' or any drugstore that sells vitamin supplements. It can make you sleepy though.
