Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Hi I'm all I've been diagnosed with bipolar schedule II for 8 years now and now I and taking medication resperidone and depakote every night before bed and ever since starting the medication and coming down from my last manic episode I've been having a lot of unpleasant symptoms. I've been losing interest in hobbies and activities, I have fatigue, i really have a hard time thinking clearly and making important decisions and working efficiently. I have brain fog and I really have trouble striking up a conversation and carrying one and relating to other people. I dont know of it's something wrong with my health or it's the medications or if it's the bipolar disorder or a combination. If anyone can help me with some answers or feedback and maybe if you have bipolar schedule II with extended manias and maybe even if you have taken these meds or are on them can give me some information that would be much appreciated because I feel like I am just going on and not truly living happy. Thankyou!

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Talk to your Pdoc and be honest with him/her about all of the side effects you're having and see if he can come up with a better combo. There are much newer meds out there that don't cause all those side effects.
Take care,
Kat
What I actually wanted to say to you was that I have been on Seroquel before and that balanced my mood very well. It takes a long time to get used to it but I think my doc put me on a ridiculously high dosage. But it does leave you over-sedated for awhile till you get used to it but it really does balance the mind. I felt happier and like I couldn't have a bad day. The only problem with it is that a side effect is weight-gain. I have body issues and insecurities and the weight gain was depressing. I was too depressed about the weight gain that I eventually went off Seroquel.
I am 5 foot tall and I gained 5kgs and that may not seem a lot but it is was at least a dress size and a half more than I used to be and mostly on my tummy making me look pregnant. But I think most people gain weight evenly everywhere and it wasn't a lot of weight gain if you think about it if you were a taller person. So if you are not too worried about a little weight gain, maybe ask about Seroquel.
Hope that helps.
I agree that you should talk with your doctor..... Not all meds make you flat
Welcome to the board...… Big hug......xo
