Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I believe in fasting as part of my whorship, but usually do it with water and one very light meal that day. The problem with fasting for me is how my meds affect me on an empty stomach. Doing that every other day might be difficult.
Maybe just cutting your portions in half each day would be healthier or eating only until your hunger is satisfied. Drinking lots of water helps your body to metabolize the food and move it through your system faster.
I hope you find something that works for you 666. xo
Here's a blurb:
"The foods incorporated in this diet are organic vegetables, fruits and legumes."

I was told not to do this because I am bipolar and there is documented research out that it can make us relapse into mania despite consistant lithium levels (in lithium users) & I think the rate was 60%... not to mention antipsychotic users are at a higher rate of diabetes (and may not be aware they have it) plus you have to be aware of low blood sugar... Just sayin ;-)
I agree with Shelly4, portion control, 6 small meals, more water and exercise would be a healthier choice. If I exercised every other day, I'd never lose weight! I get one day off from exercise a week.
And globally crash diets have been proven not to work and to cause long-term metabolic damage (I am an example) and greater diffulty shifting weight as the years go on. The long held truths of a moderate diet and excercise are the best way, science has proven.
I am one of those that when manic wont eat a thing takes too much time away from doing fun stuff; so does showering brushing teeth etc. but when I'm down all I do is nibble constantly. Like I said always checking with your doc and stuff is the important thing we are all different.
It is just a shame there isn't one universal quick way to lose weight safely besides 20 hour a day excercise (4 hrs a day for sex :)
:)
The way I eat could be considered a diet of sorts. Rather than eating three large meals a day, I tend to eat something small roughly every four hours. This keeps my body energized throughout the day. I've been told by my doctor, and many other agree including my mother who is a nurse, that this is a very healthy way to eat. Unfortunately, I can't really say if it will help in regards to weight loss. I've always been very thin (and trust me, it's not what it's cracked up to be), but I can say that it hasn't caused any weight gain either.
