I believe there is hope, that's the only way I make it through my days. I still haven't lost the weight I gained on meds a couple of years ago. I'm trying.

I lost my Seroquel gut by going off it, but I do NOT recommend it since most of the weight came from between my ears. lol.

Don't be tricked by the middle age gut. That one seems to have the most difficulty trimming down.

I have both, I figured I'm middle aged so who gives a sh**. ( Not me.. ) :-) Hehehe

This is almost excately what my Pdoc said about med weight gain

I could excersize 5 hrs a day,eat only lettuce,run a marathon.....and MAYBE lose a pound or two.

SOME meds,literally make it impossible ,for some beepers to lose weight.

I have been literally starving myself (on a liquid fast) since the beginning of this month trying to lose the GD lithium weight (off lithium now).

I've lost some weight(!!!) and my loving mother told me that the way I am losing it means I am just going to gain it all back!

Is there someway I can medicate her??

(plan on eating like a bird after I lose the weight ... I gotta get it off and keep it off. Sometimes I feel really trapped by the weight and I get so angry)

getting off depakote and on abilify and lamictal I have lost 75lbs and my appitite is just about normal.

getting off depakote, then working hard for 3 years to lose the weight, now at a normal weight...had to pick up lithium but that has no affect on my weight...so yes there is hope!!

i got a shade tree over the playground myself. good thing we have one of those shower heads with the hose or id be smellin like old cheese.

There are exercise routines for almost every aspect of your body. With a little research I'm sure you can find some pretty good workouts designed to attack the gut area. A good way of getting rid of your gut is by dieting, running, and doing crunches. The weight might come off slow since you're on meds but then again if losing weight was easy everyone would be walking around looking like supermodels.

I've only just started Epilim (the first mood stabiliser I've ever been on) and am terrified of putting on. I'm a lil too body proud, have had a history of eating disorders when I was younger, and used to work as an exotic dancer... so weight gain would just NOT be ok for my mental state.

I am confused though, is the weight gain that people experience on BP meds from the meds themselves, or is it from an increased appetite that comes with the meds?

Seasons, I was on epilum for a while a few years ago. Every time I had a shower handfuls of my hair fell out. If you notice the same I would ask pdoc to change mood stabilizer.

Regarding weight, with me, I put weight on because my appetite increased. However, I do believe that the meds can cause weight gain without overeating..such as Lithium which caused me to retain fluid, which made me feel bloated and put on about 8-10lb in less than a month.

Im on wieght watchers i bought the book. my pdoc says that losing 2 lbs a week is ideal. my girlfriend has lost 10lbs already. shes my inspiration. i have all the equiptment in the basement and i use the treaddmill to dry clothes on!
