Lithium or depakote will control mania. We can push ourselves to stay up all night, just don't make a habit of it. We always have options.

risperidal and xanax are my immediate calls to head off a manic episode. can you call your pdoc? and you are very welcome. big hugs to you. hope you manage to medicate in time. relaxation exercises, listening to classical music, exercise (a little) are a few things that can help too. keep us posted.

I take zyprexa and ativan to get regular sleep and it helps calm me down from psychosis, anxiety, and mania. I'm not manic much anymore but lithium REALLY helped me when I was. I hope you get help soon. You are in my thoughts.

Welcome. Glad you are here!! Whenever I stop sleeping and I can feel the mania coming on, my pdoc instructed me to take a new medicine and I swear it is a miracle med. It is old, Thorazine, but a great sedative and it seems that once I get in that first 8-10 hours of sleep the mania is held off thank goodness. If you have a pdoc I would be on the phone with him/her pretty quickly before it get's out of hand. I also agree with tommy, since I have started on Lithium a few months ago, mania has been pretty much out of the picture. Good luck and keep us posted. :)

Welcome aboard Notnice. Seems like everyone is echoing the same message do you have anything in your "tool kit" to ward off the symptoms of rapid oncoming mania? If not when you contact your psychiatrist this is something you may want to have on board in the future.

Apparently my brother didn't know my nephews were coming and he was livid. I came home to a...
