My sister, though thoughtful and cute, gave me a bunch of stuff she probably got from the Dollar Tree....(I know, because I shope there, but not for Christmas presents.) I think she thinks I am still 6. She was complaining to me today about how strenuous and complicated her job is (a pill-passer at an assisted living facility)....I used to be an RN....she just doesn't get it......

One time I was invited to work Christmas luncheon, and the point was made to me that we were exchanging gifts. There were only about 5 of us, a small R/E firm. So even though I hadn't planned on getting them gifts I ran out and found thesebeautiful Christmas balls with candle inside. About a $20 gift for each of them.
I get there, the one who told me gives me a mug full of candy, like $1 store has, and the broker gives us computer printed certificates of achievement! Lmao! And the others gave nothing!!!

thats lame ive done dollar tree gifts before it was really yummy popcorn thgouh my husbad is hard to shop for i did okay this year i just bought a lot of video gmaes i knw he wanted because i asked him ...so yea 99% of what he got this ear form me he knew waht it was...lol he still ahs like 2 or 3 gifts he asht opened becaue they are not here yet lol.

For our holidays which weren't all that far away - I gave cologne and good ones, I researched what kinds he likes and the essences and chose ones that are similar and have good reviews - he likes them and uses them. Yea - I have gotten a George Foreman Grill, Slow Cooker/Crock pot and some other household goods as gifts before, the thought was there. Jewelry I always like though and he knows this :-) But with gold prices right now, we are waiting until we go overseas.. US is good only on white gold... A lot of times though I tend to buy things myself... Our last holiday he bought us all season tickets for this year and the next to Six Flags...

I made a gift basket from $1 for my neighbor. It came out pretty nice, I put snacks in it I knew she liked. It came out pretty good and didn't cost too much.
Also there is some nice stuff in one of the $1 stores I go to. It's just I don't want a whole lot of Nick knacks from there. I liked the first couple my nieghbors gave me cuz they were dogs, one looking like cosmo.

I'm not trying to dis $ Tree gifts...just the one my sister sent....she is 8 years older than me, and she sends me 2 candy canes and a snowman sucker, (diabetes is rampant in our family, including her) a little tiny notepad with a folding pen (that probably would cost a dollar at the Dollar Tree, and looks suspiciously like it) ....and a few other hokey things.....I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I'd rather just get a nice card than a bunch of fluffy stuff I would rather have gotten when I was in the first or second grade.

i got pj's from victoria secret, which i wanted, but was hoping for something sexy. they are striped thermals, i look like a candy cane. i like them, but it was his opportunity to pick out something sexy for me. but he didn't cuz i've put on weight. as far as practical gifts, i actually love them, i like to cook, and asked for some kitchen stuff. the sad thing is i haven't changed out of the pjs since christmas

Star, a snowman lolly!!! Lol, guess once the baby of the family always. The baby. She probably meant well. I've seen the notebooks. I bought those for the foster kids I was tutoring a couple Years ago. I figure teens like to pass notes in class. But it's cute to have in your purse. I take it she doesn't have money.

My bro picked interesting gifts, the few years his wife "allowed" him to buy for me, even though I bought for their 3 kids everyear including birthdays and small things on various holidays, and babysat for free and took them places with my own money.....

He liked to get me horizontal stripes(God bless him). It's just being short and weight challenged, horizontal stripes are so
something to avoid! But I appreciated that he picked it out himself.

my husband got a button up shirt with deer on it from his parents while his brother and brother in law got the coolest under armour hoodies.

i got a set of some piece of shit bath towels and long johns from my outlaws. i did ask for both towels and long johns. however...i was asked THREE times from my mother in law what type of towels i wanted and i told her all THREE times the really large ones. what do i get? the ones only my 14 yo 125lb kid can wrap around her. i washed the towels and they came out looking like crap. do they sell towels at the $ tree? i asked for the receipt so i could return both the shirt and the towels and she said she threw them away along with cutting the price tags off of them.

every year dh and i get the shit gifts and the rest of them get the nice stuff, it is unbelievable.

on the other hand. i recieved some loverly and thoughtful gifts from my husband and kids. i am grateful for that.

Tommy I'm sorry you didn't get any gifts and you are right we are ungrateful for not appreciating the small things. Now let me say that I went through a midlife crisis at 40 years old. I told everyone that I felt unidementional a mom only. I didn't feel like I was sexy anymore, I didn't feel like a woman, just mommy, mommy, mommy which I don't mean to put down, but I was also a professional and had a great body and wanted to feel sexy and attractive too. That year every present I got at Christmas was a kitchen appliance. I got a crockpot, an iron, a muffin tin, etc. I cried, I was 40 and in the middle of an identity crisis. So I had an affair with a 27 year old greek god at work. It lasted 3 weeks broke up my marriage and I should have sewn my lips shut but that's another story.

honestly i feel so upset that i got my fiance a nice shirt for christmas and he didn't get me anything. i got him a nice jacket for his birthday and i got coupons that i cannot redeem (everytime i said i wanted to, he said no). men are stupid.

i think getting a bread maker and griddle depends on who you and your husband is....i think from my hubby it would be less offensive becasuae i am not expected to all the cooking. in my family. but he seems to reamber little things i say throughout the year and get them for me on my birthday, christmas, valentines day.
i really lucked out. but idont mean this to be a rub in the face just dont give up on all men there are some good ones out there
