4 string banjo (played in band as kid) and piano

Used to be able to play the piano, but not now!! (Another casualty of Bipolar Disorder!!!!)


Still able to play the tissue and comb, Jew's Harp, slide-whistle, and a mean skin flute!!!!

I play flute and sax. I play in church and practice 4 or 5 times a week. I have actually improved over the last few years and taken lessons.

My second son played violin and he could have been a concert violinist, he was so good. I took lessons along with him and found it to be almost impossible to get a good sound. Sadly, he quit for hockey.

So kudos to you for working on violin - I also upgraded about 15 years ago to a better flute. Turned out it was a fantastic steal and deal, and I have had it rebuilt, along with my sax, which is also a solid brass sax I got for almost nothing.

Let us know how the knew violin goes. I have a beautiful one. I'm hoping maybe my granddaughter will take it up, one day.

When young I played the electric organ later took lessons but
not now.....

I will let you know about the new violin but it might not get here until the 29 at the latest. All though I think it will be here much sooner from what I've read. I'm sort of building it myself. It might be a steal considering the fact that it is 12 years or more aged wood. That makes a violin expensive but I'm getting mine for 100$. Still I have to put other things on it there weren't included.

I"m so excited though. I always feel guilty when spending money on myself. Being poor meant never having anything nice or rather anything at all. Now I have nice things but I keep wanting more. It's greedy of me isn't it? Well I won't feel too guilty over the violin because I love my current one so much. I know that it is not money wasted.

I tried piano but was a lil better with a synth. I tried the harmonica and was to slow. I can shake a rattle pretty good lol.

I use to play the piano and would do anything to go back to it. I LOVE the violin and have always wanted to learn. I adore them!

guitar is still my first love, though i started with bari sax.
digeridoo is my `scream therapy' instrument.

Violin and piano, both at an advanced level. Bipolar means no time for lessons anymore, I have mood swings instead. Oh well. I occasionally play and hope to do so more.

Piano, but not trained.. i tried reading music for lessons when young, got nowhere.. I love making up my own songs tho and i pound away and it puts me in a happy place... i love the weight of the keys under my fingers and the pedal under my foot and rocking back and forth to the ideas in my head.. fun stuff.

btw, kudos on doing violin, that is a hard instrument to play.

I started out trying to play the violin...that lasted only a couple of months. I am NO good at string instruments. I played the clarinet for about 10 years, but dropped out of lessons when high school told me it was required to be in the marching band if I wanted to play for the school. While learning to read music from playing the clarinet, I figured out how it related to piano music and played on an electric keyboard.

I have no clue if I would be able to play the clarinet again. I haven't tried since high school (and I hate to admit how long it's been since then). I just got a brand new electric keyboard a few Christmases ago though, and if I take the time, I could do it.

I'm with fartgirl though....Kudos on playing the violin.
