Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
There was a part in it that reminded me of when I was in Jr. High School. I wanted to be 1st clarinet (since they played the melody)....my teacher wouldn't allow me b/c I was really good and the 2nd clarinets "needed me". I guess b/c there would be no harmony without me. lol.
AND my mother recalls how horrible it was when I practiced for the first few years. lol. Again, thanks for sharing!
I learnt the cornet and the trumpet and played solo trumpet in my school brass band for six years too. The dog hated it and yowled every time I practised. So my family was less than supportive...had to quit when I moved to the city.
Just starting to learn the harmonica. I've got one in G so far. Chose this key so I could play Heart of Gold with old Neil.
Nice work with learning the violin- and making a new one- Wow impressive! An old mate let me have a go on hers and it wasn't pretty. I didn't like getting covered in rosin either, but she played beautifully.
I love how enthusiasm for an instrument when learning to play can break all social boundaries and you just want to share what you've learnt, or be shown things by others, without a trace of self-consciousness :)
You know classical guitar strings don't really hurt sensitive fingers but you definitely need to have developed little calluses on your fingers to play steel string. The quality of the guitar makes a pretty big difference too.
What genre of music do you play doorknob? Are we talking Tchaikovsky and Bach, or Charlie Daniels Band? As a teen classical piano absolutely gave me the shits! My piano teacher swore that non-classical music would "ruin my technique". He should hear my technique after not playing for twenty five years...well he'd be rolling in his grave anyway!
I play to do a rock Symphony type thing like my new hero David Garrett. But I will play what ever interests me. So probably not many classical music as I'm not a huge fan of it.
I did download and print out some anime music which I successfully played. But I still need a ton of practice. Violin needs so much posture and my back is weak. But I have seen improvement in arm strength and back strength since playing so added bonus there.
