I have the panic and bipolar as well as a few more disorders,I like to say jokingly that I have the whole alphabet of disorders. I believe they are separate but effected by each other and would almost guarentee that the medication change was a major contributor to your current panic attacks. I take klonipin for my anxiety and it works well for me.

uhg, a few years ago i was on the highway and it was so bad, i thought i wasn't going to ever make it off.

i ended up the rest of the day in the hospital waiting room and the fuckers didn't even help me. by 9 pm i was fine to go home.

now the xanax helps knock it out, if i feel it coming round.

Social Anxiety Disorder and other Panic type episodes ,are a separate Dx from BP..BUT they deff go hand and hand for the BP sufferer..Co-Morbid Dx's.BP and panic disorders.

My Pdoc says I'm weird I have anxiety both when manic and depressed when depressed because I know I should be manic and when manic because I know I'm out of control. Valium really helps in both situations.

I struggle with anxiety at different times but have also found that some meds make it worse for me. Abilify was one of the meds that made me extremely anxious. When I absolutely need it, I take ativan to help. Otherwise, meditating daily and avoiding anticipation and procrastination have helped me a great deal. xo

I too have anxiety/panic disorders of varying types. It can be extremely debilitating even when i fight through it. Meditation does help some, prayer can help me fight through as well. Occasionally journaling or making very detailed lists can help too because there is less of the 'unknown'. I am actually talking to my doc today to see if we can give me medication for my anxiety because i can't sleep or function it gets so bad.

I believe many other disorders can go hand in hand with BP, unfortunately. I've got a handful myself ^_^ Hang in there and try to take life one day at a time.

I get anxious a lot in social situations, but I have a separate dx of social phobia too, so it may be down to that, who knows? Do you have anything to take for your anxiety? I have valium for when it gets just too bad for me to cope with

I have extemely high anxiety, they have DX me with Generalized Anxiety Disorder in addition to my Bp . I don't know if its part of this illness I don't think so since they actually DX me with it.

I don't share my anxiety episodes with the pdoc...

I don't know if they are technically related, but I have severe anxiety/panic attacks, so much so that it is increasingly hard for me to even leave home.

i have anxiety on top of my bipolar dx....its a separate dx but can go hand in hand with the bipolar

I find that bipolar and anxiety can go hand in hand. I have terrible anxiety, and often have panic attacks especially when I go in public places.

I think they are related.
