'Self-medicating' is a very mis-leading term.

I need medication administered to me.

I think everybody does it, but most people call it an "escape mechanism", while for us it truly is self-medication. And when you're that bad off and you need something fast that's illegal (and shouldn't be, like pot), then go for it, that's what I say. There's only so much pain the human mind can take.
Oh, and here's a good legal remedy; slapstick humor!
