For me, that is all part of my bipolar. Alot of times I can't even sit still long enough to eat. It feels like my leg won't stop moving and I can't even focus because all of my thoughts are racing and I want to jump from one thing to the next.

I was diagnosed ADD in high school and again in college, and given a special tutor. The term ADHD was not yet in vogue.

I wasn't ADD in my opinion. I was BP and yet to be diagnosed. ADHD is so widely diagnosed, I wonder if it has real meaning anymore. I think the BP is such a stronger issue that the LD is almost a non-issue at that point.

BTW, I was a 'strongly afflicted' case that was 'unusual' because it carried into early adulthood. Yadda yadda. BP.

I have read some about this, as my 7 -year-old shows some signs of ADD but I think it may be BP. Am reluctant to try ADD meds in the event that they might worse BP. They can look so similar.

my sons pdoc refuses to just list him as adhd like the school wants because she knows bp takes more time to dx and in part believes his teacher is just mean. Though I don't wish for a bp dx either it would be better to know now.

Personally I just thinkhe is a Type A personality and is very intelligent and thus gets bored with the limited academic challanges being brought his way. alot like i was at his age.

But just signd of adhd dont mean it is the necessary dx

That's how I was when I got in higher grades. I was in quiz bowl and all that great stuff. Till I discovered women LOL. Then I still graduated early and well started self medicating and things went downhill.

I would keep an eye out for him and make sure that he stays busy with his school work...

u may want to try straterra for adhd cuz it is not a controlled substance. i would try this med in conjunction with ur bp meds. It just may wk. take care i hope this helps a little.

Bipolar and ADHD have alot of the same symtoms. Unfortunately they cant tell sometimes which is which. The drugs for BpD cause side effects, and the drugs for ADHD cause us to be able to focus, and pay attention and stuff. Unfortunately, they both have similar symtoms and they both can overlap. So it sucks if you dont know which is which and when. But, if you have ADD, try getting on the meds used to treat it if they work you have it, if they dont then you just have bpd. I dont know, thats just my experience. KK
