Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
They will go through your things upon admission and anything with a cord (including electronics with headphones like ipods and strings in sweatshirts) along with shoelaces will be removed. They will also take anything with sharp edges like fingernail clippers but also metal spiral bound notebooks and paperclips. Many hospitals take away anything with alcohol listed in the first five ingredients (deodorant, mouthwash, etc) to protect people who might be dealing with alcoholism and addiction issues.
There are usually groups everyday to participate in to learn new coping skills, get some occupational therapy, etc.
Basically, the hospital is a good place to either get a med adjustment in a safe place or to keep you until you feel safe. They are not all that therapeutic anymore.
further each hospital is different and I havent been in one that allowed cell or computer. you are there for crisis management not socializing.
i hope you find healing in this, that can be something difficult to overcome and i hope your boyfriend finds the inner strength to cope and support you, even if you are cutting xo
I dont blame you, i dont care for hospitals myself..
no one should avoid the hospital if they are really in need, but i would never rush to one myself... urg :/
i do want it, so much.
