How did you find out you were diabetic. Did you crave sugar or did you pass out?

? for wannaboogie,how much topamax are you on? I take it too but have been on so long that it does not seem to make me stop eating anymore. I think I am just trying so hard to find a way to disappear and food is my only way out or something. I just have to get into the exercise grove. I always over do whateve I get into, must be the mania side.

I take it at night, and have no problems.

I didn't realize how well it was working until I went off of it for two weeks -- I kept forgetting to refill my prescription. Once the medication ran out of my system, I was fit to be tied. I'm not going to repeat that mistake again.

I had gestational diabetes with both of my children when I was pregnant with them. I knew that I would more then likely whined up with it one day. Just didnt think I would be only twenty six when there was the onset. I felt the need to drink alot, was always thirsty, and I felt the urge to pee all the time. I finnaly had to go to the ER after almost a week of no relief from rapid heart rate, vomiting, and shakes. I had not eaten anything in three days so my Blood sugar levels should have been around 20-60 but they were 190 according to the doc if I had food in me they would be close to five and six hundred. I have an appointment set up on the 27th to see a doctor about the dibetes and have more blood work done.

For me this drug is wonderful. My doctor did warn me to take in in the evening as it would make me sleepy. WRONG! I have to take it in the mornings as it keeps me awake. I shake on anything above 15 mgs though and have to be put on cogentin for that. Fortunately I'm back down to 15 mgs although I have a sneaking suspicion that may need to be tweeked up a bit my next pdoc visit.

As usual my pdoc and I are consulting other docs about increasing my dose above the max recommended. It is working well on the severity of my mood swings but has me really rapid cycling as well.
It is one of the ways I know I am really f"d up when I need max doses of meds to have any effect I was on 4kmg of depakote when I used it and then developed a rare alergic reaction.

My doc just put me on 45mg of Abilify from 30mg. Is anyone on such a high dose? Its been 3 days and I get really restless and have blurred vision since the past 2-3 weeks. I'm also on lithium 600 and trileptal 600 at night. The worst is the memory loss - I can't remember anything at work, in meetings and my reading speed is 0. How can I improve my memory and concentration. HELP PLEASE!

This comment is esp. for nobody666 don't think of yourself as being so f"d up because you need high doses of your meds. I am on so many meds I feel f"d up and as my nurse prac says I ussually just need small doses since I have a sensitive system. I have so many damn problems that I know how you feel but I guess that is why I found DS when I was just up late one night searching. Now at least I don't feel so alone and desperate. Hang in there and don't let them zombie you out I think that is the clue.

I always feel I must speak when I see Abilify posts. Abilify turned me into a complete nutcase. This side effect is called Akathesia and it can occur in up to 25% of people. Mine was severe. I could not sit still and after four weeks I got to the point where I couldn't even focus well enough to hold a fork...I had to eat with my HANDS. I was in the hospital coming off it on thorazine for two weeks and the effects did not completely disappear for another month. It was one of the most horrifying experiences in my life.

I started on it and it's great. No side effects so far at 20mgs.. tho like Lou2 said my pdoc told me same thing that 10mg was best dose. I'm on it with Risperdal. I've lost 8lbs since I've been on both. Guess they're not "fat " pills for me. No appetite whatso ever. My rapid cycling has disappeared.

Abilify caused me to be very antsy. It does work well though. I finally stopped taking it about 2 weeks ago because of the cost.
