Just found out I have renal failure, for me caused by diabetes, which Seroquel makes worse. Another friend has the exact same problem but hers was caused by lithium, not diabetes.
Anyway, just wanted to warn you about the meds we take and what problems they can cause. And to be careful.
For instance, if you take seroquel, avoid OTC pain meds. Esp. naproxen (Alleve) and ibruprophen (motrin, advil, etc.)
And if you take Seroquel or similar atypical antipsychotics, watch your blood sugar levels carefully. And if you take lithium, don't skip any bloodwork appts.
You can prevent the damage but can't fix it once it's happened.

When i was in the ER February 16th 2025, i was being admitted to ICU where i was for 3 weeks, then had to relearn to walk for 3 weeks in another hospital rehab floor, the nurse told me something that made me feel for over 18 months now that i was finally *safe*. She told me that the guy who raped and beat me 21 years ago now almost 20 years at that time, was in prison as of a month before that...

The worse part was the painful muscle spasms which I encountered. I find that it is difficult to find a med to treat mental health which does not cause harmful effects to the body. Perhaps newer, more gentler treatments will be available to us in the future.
Yes, everyone should check the side effects on that little paper the pharmacists give you. Its in your best interest.
Yes my Doctor monitored me carefully when I was on meds. I also researched all my meds and man it was frightening to read.
I no longer take meds for other reasons but yes people should be montitored. Sorry again that this has happened and wish you all the best care possible.
