Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
2) not sure if pain meds mess with your bp meds. better ask yur doc. I know they do if you take them like a savage addict like I do, in order to change my head, so I can't take them at all. i imagine they are fine as prescribed, but better ask yur doc.
3) see my recent post "Poor health care due to bipolar" on the birth control issue. Funny you should ask...
best wishes xoxo
2) I don't know
3) I don't know about this either, but if your depression is influenced by hormones, then this could matter. Although, one could make the argument that bcp regulate hormone levels so tightly that it may help; however, they're not YOUR normal hormone levels, so that may not help. I'm just thinking out loud here. It's something worth bringing up and asking about.
1) I wear sweatpants and flip-flops to my therapist. What you want is to feel the most comfortable you can so you can just be you!
2) Pain meds CAN interact with certain psych meds, just ask your doctor. I have recurrent pain that requires pain meds and I've not had any problems.
3) Some birth control meds can also interact - ask your doctor.
I don't know about changing the avatar - I've only done it once and I've forgotten how!!
GOOD MORNING AND HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!
pain meds shouldn't make a difference unless morphine based/or other strong type?
birth control pills used to make me suicidal every month so talk to your doc.
Still, for a long time, I would 'clean up' for doctors, at least.
Well, it was a few years before it came up in the conversation at the Pdoc's that I ever just let myself go like that.
Now he (and all the rest of my doctors) get me 'as is'. If I feel like crap and haven't changed clothes in days or put on 'decent looking' stuff, that's how they take me.
I think it's important for them to see how I'm really doing.
I'm not currently seeing a therapist but if I was, he or she would definitely see me decked out the same way I would be if I were at home.
I would think that it depends on which pain med you're taking and upon how you happen to respond to them.
I hope your procedure goes well and that you aren't in too much pain afterwards.
And that if you DO need pain medication, whatever you are given works out well!!
I know nothing about how birth controls mess with BP (but I wouldn't put it past them if they do!!!!)
Pain meds may conflict with some BP meds...check with your Pharmacist to check this out
Can't help you with Birth Control issues
Can't help with the avatar issues...I put mine up over 7 years ago, and have not even attempted to try and change it....I'm not sure I know how I got it up there in the first place
yes. i found this out the hard way last year. opiates are a rough mix with antipsychotics and other meds. my tolerance was zero because i have never been attracted to pills, but severed achilles, destroyed heel bone.....yeah, i took the oxy's. i went very, very mad.
