Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I have a new pdoc. He is very nice and listen to my every problems. I can call him anytime if I need him. With all the talking and checking my medical record, he diagnoses me as cyclothymia. He told me that my symptoms weren't too severe. I think that cyclothymia fits me. I have mild depression and mild manic.
I'm taking Geodon, Pristiq, and Trazodone.
I wonder does anyone diagnose with cyclothymia. How does it affect you? I'm trying to learn more about it.

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
However, I have heard folk on this board dx'd with your same diagnosis. So wanted to bump this back up before it gets lost. :)
Maybe.
When I was in my 30's and taking a psychology class (101), it described the various types of Bipolar Disorder and I instantly recognized myself!!
But I liked it and it seemed to add more to my life than it took away, so I never sought treatment for it.
It was only about 20 years later that I went a lot more bonkers and ending up (after again diagnosing myself) at the Pdoc's office, getting a label of Bipolar II.
(I've only gone REALLY manic one time, but I don't count that.)
In sharing my history (and my suspicions) with my Pdoc, he agreed that I probably was cyclothymic for all those years, going by what I said.
Maybe I would be doing better now had I been treated back then, before things got worse, but I'll never know.
I occasionally ended up at doctor's offices because of anxiety and/or depression while in my 20's, 30's, and 40's, but was only plied with drugs for those conditions. Nothing for Bipolar.
I was almost always 'up' and 'bubbly', even though at the same time, I was always mildly depressed.
I never did seem to need much sleep.
Good luck on your meds!!!!
Since your symptoms aren't too severe, I hope you can get along with minimal amounts!!!! That would be great!!!
Your Pdoc sounds like a winner!!!! That's a BIG plus!!!!
