Usually I recommend someone keep on a med , to give it time to work.
Usually it takes time to reach therapeutic levels . Sometimes the side effects go away after a few weeks.

With Lexapro, I feel differently.

I was on Lexapro and felt like death warmed over .

It was one of the hardest meds I ever had to wean off of.

Call your Pdoc and say it's really not working out. Save yourself from a horrible with drawl !

I felt Lexapro had much milder side effects ( ssri's as a whole here) than the mood stabilizers. Yes it makes you tired but that will stop after about 2 weeks...sometimes less even. I don't know your med history but this one really is milder. The worst side effect I know of these types of drugs are " brain zapps" when discontinuing abruptly , i believe when a person is on a higher dose. I am sure though you are feeling what you are feeling and just want to encourage you and send a hug.

I take lex apron along with Wellbutrin, saphris and lithium. I never had any side effects. It has helped me though.

I take adderall to stay awake during the day since my other meds make me sleep 18 hours a day. It helps with depression too and motivation. I hope you feel better soon. I just started lexapro about a month ago? Maybe 1.5 months ago. So far it is helping. I would call your pdoc.

Definitely call your psych! I've been on 40 mg Lexapro for years and I take it in the a.m. and it seems to wake me up. I've never had any trouble on it!

i take 20 mg...not too many side effects... a headache at first...it keeps my nose just above the proverbial water that is depression.

I started Lexapro 10mg a couple of days ago. It makes me so tired. I am thinking about taking only half of one for a few days and see if that helps.

I heart lexapro. At night I take 20 mg. because it does make me feel a bit spacy and tired--however, all the horrible side effects have faded for me. The beginning was tough and weird, but really, any ssri effects me that way in the beginning. My anxiety and rumination, obsessive thoughts are mostly distant background noise. Yay!

I don't take it anymore, but when I started Lexapro I remember having some pretty uncomfortable side effects. But after a month or so, I started feeling better and the side effects went unnoticed. If it's really bothering you, talk to your pdoc about switching meds. Just DON'T stop cold turkey!!

The first time I took Lexapro I did very well on it. I came off it for a while and when I went back on it, it no longer helped with my depression.

A few years later I started it again and I ended up with serotonin syndrome.

Talk to your pdoc as has been suggested here.

I'm on ciprolex (lexapro), and it really helps my anxiety. I haven't had any of those side effects.

I wonder if it's not the medication, but maybe ur just feeling depressed? I don't know...I would go see ur pdoc if you feel ur having these side effects from it.
