A conversation with a friend last night made me realize some people on here (especially the new ones) are not aware of the cost of Lithium. For 90x 300 mg Lithium it's $4 at Walmart. Just about every where else Lithium is $7. Lithium is natures medicine for Bipolar. It does have some draw backs (like blood work from time to time) but the benefits including blood work still out weighs the cost of some other meds (for 30x 40 mg of Lamictal is $230). Lithium isn't perfect, but what is?

Here in TN, a pharmacy cannot sell a med for LESS than they pay for it...so, given this, WalMart is making a PROFIT on every prescription they fill for $4.
Where this is leading to is, if there is a profit margin at $4, why isn't the government or some entity restricting the inflated costs on all meds? I take Albeuterol for my Asthma...another of WalMart's $4 meds BUT, when I look on the slip showing how much they are billing my insurance company, it shows the cost as $64.

From what I understand, no one puts the benzos on their discount programs which really doesn't make sense for people with seizure disorders and/or us.
I have a low grade seizure disorder, but klonapin is fairly cheap, even at Walmart compared to the pricey, newer drugs, so I'm not complaining.
I am ashamed to say that I get my most expensive med fraudulently through my cousin. Pdoc wrote it for her, but it didn't help...so she gets it for me for free through her insurance.
I could get on a soap box about healthcare and pharmaceuticals in the U.S., but I will refrain.
