I was hospitilized 4 months ago for a bad infection that had spread to my lungs. after 15 days in the hosp i stayed smoke free for almost 2 months then i started sneaking a cig a few times a day again.
my lung docs say my lungs are back to better than before and i'm smoking less than a pack a day compared to the 2-3 i was smoking before.
i can go for hours without a smoke and tell my self 2 or 3 times a day i can and should quit again, but i dont. i've been hiding it from my family and i dont know there is some kind of thrill and challange to finding ways to sneak a smoke.
then sometimes i figure ill quit so since its my last smoke i'll smoke two sort of to say good bye. i think i'm more addicted to the thrill of not getting caught and having something to do in those dull moments than to the ciggs.
any ideas on what i can do to take away the thrill....

That being said, he is not bipolar. About a week ago, there was something in the news about psychiatric issues and chantix, but I have a feeling it could be related to the fact it seems you take it for 3 months, then stop, rather than weaning off. They probably need a weaning schedule.
Might be worth asking your pdoc about.
