Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I talked to the shelter manager, told her I was going
tomorrow to get the rent voucher from social services
(yes, shelters charge rent) and could I use the shelter
address to get my food stamps back. She said no.
She said social services will not accept a shelter
address to get food stamps. So you can't get them if
you live in a shelter or in a car or on the street. Only
if you have your OWN place to live can you get food
stamps. Which means the people who REALLY need
them can't have them. The law is insane.
It is very difficult to get into a shelter in the first place.
The beds are almost always all taken. When my 30
days are up I will have nowhere left to go. I will be
sleeping on the sidewalk with no food, and I can't
even carry all my clothes with me. And I don't have
that many clothes to begin with. My attorney says my
case has not even been given a scheduled court date
yet, it will be at least 4 months before my disability
hearing, and a couple months more before I see any
money from it - that's IF I win. I can't hold out that long.
There is no one who can help me, my social worker
told me over and over that there is NO place for a
disabled person with no income to live in the state
of Nevada. Period. Took her 6 weeks to be able to
find me a bed in a shelter. There simply isn't any hope
for me. I will relax for the next 27 days and then I will
go out into the street and lay down and die. It's what
the state of Nevada wants me to do anyway. They
won't provide me with anymore assistance. Thanks
to everyone who responded to my earlier post.
Good to see you all.

I wish I could do something concrete to help you. I'm glad you are going to see an attorney to try to get disability as you mentioned it will take awhile to happen. I'm also glad to see you back....
I was worried about you as were many.....
surely, there has to be this kind of organization in a town as big as vegas? granted, i found your social services pages almost impossible to read and they provide so little information. kind of like they don't want people to know what resources are in the area because they don't want them to stay? idk
but, i'll thinking good thoughts for you and your situation. you have been missed these past 6 weeks.
hugs and puppy kisses
It is the same way in my own state as yours, but not in Washington state and not in Oregon. I Know it's a scary thing but what about trying another state? You can look up rules and information on the different state rules on the library computer if no one will tell you.
That Really makes me upset, and I wish there were more I could do at the moment. :/
Since your sw told you there is no place for a disabled person, no income to live in NV could she or he help you relocate?
