I am observing lent by abstaining alcohol and dining out - the two most expensive luxuries on my budget. (Details in my journal for 'friends' - if you want to read it, I've never turned down a friend request.).

For me, so far, so good, and I am thinking I may have set the bar too low.

So, if anyone would care to share, how are your Lenten plans going?

my lent plans are going really well.. no one to have sex with, so dont have to worry about that one.. and no alcohol has been really showing me that it isnt important at all, probably never will again. as for the exercise that went bad 7 days after. urg.

Isn't giving up their clothing against their beliefs? I mean, my vast knowledge of the Amish comes from a comedy starring Kirsty Alley and Tim Allen, and a song by Weird Al. Based on my stellar education on the subject, I think the only thing they could give up is manual labor.

So you can study to be Amish? Or is it like when an American goes to college for "European Studies"....they may be an "expert" on the subject, but they're still American, not European. Can you be a born again Amish? Or do you have to be born Amish? You know what? I was wrong. My education isn't as thorough as I thought it was.
