Elementary my dear KK. I'm certain that over the past few centuries that there were only several dozen outsiders who were willing to be Amish.

Something not right with those several dozen.

I guess with gas prices so high, some people might want to go with the horse and buggy....and maybe there's some appeal with the "not having to shave" thing. Other than that? I just can't see how not having technology (the technology that a lot of inventors claim God helped them create) makes them closer to God.

Well, the young Amish people could give up rumspringa, where they go out into the world for a while, and live as the 'outsiders' do!!!!

And some Amish will use a pay phone or a neighbor's phone and some of them will ride in cars. They could give that up.

But the coolest part of being Amish is that when someone misbehaves, you can SHUN them, which is basically like putting them on ignore!!!!! LOL!!!!

my parents wont let me give uo anything for lent. I am very ill and so i have to eat what i can keep in me. and for other things i only sleep all day and go on here and facebook for a few hours so i dont get lonely. but if i was able to give something up i would give up red meats all together for all of lent. i am anemic and have to eat a heck of a lot of red meats.
